Suggestions on combining 150mm Sandpaper insert with the 133mm in one Systainer

I've stacked the 150mm insert on top of the 133mm insert and found the height to be a minimum of 217mm high.

Has anyone tried stacking these in one systainer yet?

Before I head down a rabbit hole for a couple of hours,
Any suggestions as to perhaps building a handled tool box to lift the top one out.
 
Then you might just as well make your own custom plywood insert. The Sys3 inlay for 80x133 is ridiculously inefficient anyway with having only 5 'bays'.

ROFL, I was thinking "Wut ?!?!?" I always found the SYS RTS with 6 inserts the most efficient of all Festool sandpaper systainers.

Reverse evolution once again. Once size fits all. What is up with all these companies lately? Products get worse and worse.

How did Festool call that again, Work smarter?

Who, they, or the customer? So they can't be bothered to make 3 separate inlays, and now the customer has to walk around with wasted space?

I have the 6-bay version in Systainer Classic. But even back then there was weird stuff. Like the bay for Delta 150x100 sandpaper in the RTS 400 inlay;

Anyway, that new sandpaper sandpaper layout is saving them two SKU's I guess  [big grin] [big grin]

I now own one Sys3, and it's ridiculously dumb. The cleaning set barely fits, the handle sticks out when mounting it to the CTL Midi and when trying to mount a systainer on top of it, you first have to press the handle into it's locking position and contrary to locking L-boxxes on top of each other it requires manual action. But of course, the L-boxx inlays take the crown regarding wasted space. And while Festool sometimes provides a picture of what is supposed to go where, Bosch doesn't.

Also, the new bajonet D27 hose end clogs up way more than the older one when sucking up bigger debris.
 
I guess another way to look at it is that you could carry all your different sizes of paper to site in one systainer instead of having to have a systainer for each size. Thus saving space, not wasting it.

Not really as you need different grits per machine. Ergo; a sandpaper systainer per different sander. That is why I have one for my RTS and one for my DTS. And when I eventually get a Rotex 150, I'll get a sandpaper Systainer for D150 too. But sadly I acted too slow on a nice listing of Rotex in T-loc Sys... But as [member=5277]Alex[/member] knows... pickup only on the other side of the country...  [sad]
 
I prefer to have my sandpaper separate for each type of sander. Since both my 150mm sanders live in the same Systainer, it always has the sandpaper Systainer clipped underneath it ready to go. 125mm sander mounted to an edge guide I plan to build a mount in a Sys 3 that will also hold sandpaper all together, with the rest of the sandpaper grits in a second Sys 2 clipped to the sanders Systainer. The RO90 in a Sys 3 has a tray that pulls out, with the most common sandpaper stored below, then a second Sys 1 with the less used grits stays clipped onto the sander. See a trend?

One can build custom trays very easily out of plywood or my preference ABS. Easy enough to build custom trays that can be stacked. Tabs to grab them will make removal and installation easy enough. The sky is the limit for designs! Nothing wrong with combining stuff if one so desires.
 
A few weeks ago I swear a found a FOG thread about making your own insert for the ro150 sand paper.

Obviously I wasn’t suggesting only taking one grit per size… but multiple grits can be combined in one or two stacks. The point is that a lot of trades don’t work in a workshop and don’t want to take every sheet of sandpaper they own out of he van to the job. A single systainer containing a range of sheets may be more convenient that 3 systainers.

I’m not trying to convince you this is actually better for you - I’m just explaining why it might be better for some people.

204844 is not a Sys 4 and your dimensions are off too. Its a Sys³ M with 337 height.
