Edit:  I googled freezer latches and can get them everywhere.  Can't edit the post title otherwise it would now read - "Super Cool Cabinet Latches".

I'm visiting San Francisco and stopped in to the Ghirardelli store and saw these handles/latches on the lower cabinets throughout the store.  They look like freezer door latches and feel durable enough to actually be them.  Super cool!

Now I have no idea where I'll use them at the moment but I'll figure it out.

P.S. - People in the crowd gave me some interesting looks when I got all excited and started taking pictures of latches when everyone else was oogling chocolate.

What? No photos of the chocolate? Sheesh!  [crying]

Nice find! Have any idea on cost? That may dictate the application, to a degree... Maybe too expensive for shop cabinets.  [blink]

I'm not a huge fan of Chocolate to be honest.  Was neat to see them make some of the cones they serve ice cream in though.

Seems the latches can be had in the $9 - $50 range.  Guess quality will be tough to determine without seeing them in person.  Does look like they're also referred to as "lab oven latches".

What, you like these?!!!!!

Well not now...LOL

Yup, I do.  Kinda industrial/fancy/unusual.  Just caught my attention.

I kind of like them too, well, if used for the right application. What I don't like about them is the Phillips-head mounting screws and worse, the hex-head I see on the catch. Those hardware items, to me, cheapen the look they were going for.  [unsure]

I agree, didn't notice that.  The hardware used does cheapen the look. Completely agree that they'd need to be used for the right application.

They're the sort of handles that always catch a shirt sleeve, belt loop, pocket, etc and rip it. I'm NOT A FAN [sad]

They do have a certain feel to them. I've seen them with the same catch mechanism, but with more of a disk shaped handle, which I prefer [wink]

Its freaking huge! i dont think i can "handle" it lol..thats what she said  :P

Although I don't use hardware in a lot of my work, it can be a huge inspiration to me.  And, yeah, I understand getting "distracted" by some random detail - you should see me in an art museum!
