Surfix buffing/polishing

Has anyone buffed or polished a Surfix finished surface beyond what they cover in the instructions? If so, what was your method and how was the result?

I've done the following. Buffed or burnished to be more correct with Platin Abrasive or similar 'Wet/Dry' paper/Abrasive. Tried that with progressively higher grit discs and a bit more oil.
I also played around with buffing a Wax coat or two on top of a dried Surfix finish.
That came out really nice on a couple of pieces made from Afromosia, which is a bit oily of a wood in itself.
