Surfix questions for my first project

I'm building a bookcase (mostly using cherry plywood) that I plan to finish using the Surfix system, but I have some questions beforehand:

1. Am I safe using the one-step oil for a piece such as this?
2. About how much coverage should I expect from a 0.3L bulb of oil?
3. If I were to buy a 5L refill, how long should I expect the oil to keep?

I have no Idea.

But what I would do is test some on a scrap of the ply.
I did that when I put some on baltic birch ply for the Mrs.

So I sectioned off 6 squares on a chunk of ply.
1 had Surfix, and she approved it.
(Tung, linseed and some other stuff on the remaining squares.)

You may need the large one, and it seals up, so I assume it lasts if it is kept air-tight.
If it is one shelf then 0.3 ltr is fine as cherry may not suck up a lot of it.

I do not like having a lot of choices, so I got a 5 litre of outdoor for general stuff.

I've used the Surfix system exclusively on outdoor furniture, I know that doesn't segue with your process but am willing to share my experiences if that helps you out.
The Surfix oil will add a golden tone to the wood...that may be good or bad. The outside oil is extremely durable compared to the other oils I have used on teak furniture used outside.

I'd suggest taking a cherry sample and coating it with surfix and evaluating the results.

I agree about trying a scrap piece of your Cherry Plywood. Sometimes Cherry can be blotchy when finishing it. This way you can deal with any surprises... [embarassed]

Thanks for the feedback. I was already planning to do a test. But I'm wondering what sort of coverage I should expect. For example, the double bookcase I'm building will be of substantial size (about 48" x 75" x 12"). Assuming I use the one-step oil, how many of the 0.3L bulbs should I plan to need?

I've had really good results with cherry and surfix recently. I opened the bulb about a month ago, and can't see any change in  quality. I'm even using the same sponge.

Here's the console table I used it on. Absolutely no blotch whatsoever. I sanded to 220, applied the oil, green vlies, oil again, white vlies. Normally I add a wax, but I didn't see the need here.

It does seem to last a very long time. I'm a table, two shoe trays and several other little items down, and there's plenty left. It's  not a flood-and-wipe type product so it goes a long way.
