Sword

James,

I not officially Festool but as I suspect you know that saw is not available in the US.  I went to the UK site and unless I missed something that saw is not available in a 110 /120 volt model which means that if you were able to acquire it overseas and get it here you would have to get a transformer into the picture.  Additionally you would not have a warranty here in the US and if you ever needed parts you might be out of luck getting them here.

Ironically just yesterday I was doing research on just this situation because I have one or more jobs coming up where I could utilize the sword saw also.  You might want to look at www.Praziusa.com and look at the beam saw that they have.

The Prazi beam cutter has been around for a long time. Knew a guy who had it attached to his worm drive. Scary as all hell but worked good.

I'd love to buy the SSU and was toying with a grey market tool but decided against it. Not sure why Festool is not pushing this one into NA. It looks like a great alternative to the Prazi and Mafell. If I were cutting timber all day every day I'd drop the $8k on a ZSX but for what I need to do the SSU would be ideal. Might have to checkout a Prazi but from what I've read it is not a clean cutting accurate solution like Festool.

Hi
Peter is 100% correct it is only available in 230v with no plans currently to my knowledge for further release.

Just an "official" answer, which is there are no imminent plans to offer the sword saw in the US/Canada.

Well, as a refreshment of this thread, after using a Prazi beam cutter adaptor on a Skil worm drive saw, and crying because I would have loved to have had a Festool Sword Saw here, I can say that the Prazi made me some serious $$.

If any one at Festool is till reading the FOG  please consider offering the Sword here.  I won't be the first to buy one but there is a market.

Peter

Sword? Sure you can, this one's great:

I am still looking for which 220v saw to use for the Prazi (and to justify what I would do with it)... The 'what I would do with it' part is difficult as I would need some access to big timbers.
