Hi all. My sys extractor pulsates when switched on. Doesn’t do it all the time but most of the time. Switch on and it’s similar to an engine teving Vroom vroom. Any ideas or info is appreciated

I have a CTL SYS and it does this when sanding without a Festool connecting sleeve attached between the sander and the hose.

Basically, the extractor isn’t getting enough airflow, so it cuts out to protect itself and then starts up again when it feels enough airflow coming through. Rinse and repeat.

It’s made worse by the fact that the old CTL SYS doesn’t have a speed control, so it’s always on high — and pretty much clamps the sander down to the workpiece without the connecting sleeve. The sleeve allows extra airflow to the machine, so it always has enough.

I suspect that the SYS 240 might do the same thing. Does it only happen when you are doing something that restricts airflow like sanding? Does it still happen when you turn the speed to low? I would expect turning the speed down to help. Getting the sleeve connector would also help.

Other possibles: a full bag or a clogged filter — anything that restricts airflow.
