SYS-5 MFT Tool Caddy

I have been using a Festool wooden insert tool caddy SYS-4 for hand tools for about 9 months now -  hand tools neatly and safely organised in a Systainer and I thought it was brilliant. Then I decided to make one of my own that is a SYS-5 size to gain the extra space. This has 59 items in and is tall enough to fit a claw hammer upright, 3 tubes of squirt and a cartridge gun.

Made using a TS 55R, OF1010, MFT/3, Carvex in CMS and a pillar drill. A good thing about routed housings is the push fit dry assembly as I could plan then cut and check each new piece as it progressed, so it was much easier to do than I anticipated and took about 6 hours to complete. It's a big improvement over the SYS-4 as well, not just in height gain but it was made specifically to fit the tools that I wanted to store in it.

I'm considering using a SYS-MFT lid on the SYS-5 to make it even more versatile.

I would think that making that is a challenge getting all those pockets lined up.  How many hours to figure it out and make the new one?

Thanks for sharing -

Gee, it's gonna need wheels! Thats so many items you've got placed in it. Well done.

Because it could be push fitted together in to housings it made it easier - plan cut check etc. and repeat exactly on the lower panel if required. The whole thing was finished after about 3 lots of 2 hours on it. Carvex in the CMS cut the apertures quickly.

SYS-5, MFT lid, plywood insert.

There's about 60 hand tools neatly and safely stored in their own dedicated space plus the MFT worktop.

I've also found somewhere to store my pencils...

It looks really good and well thought out also your explanation about the usage is detailed.

Except, I have tried the sys 4 for a few weeks, got my stuff out and sold it right ayway.
I hated it so much ....... and haven't met much people who use it the way you do and are happy with it.

Awesome job sir! Looks really handy and I could see a solid use for when I'm at the farm too!
