SYS-MFT and MFT height?

I'd like to have a movable support table when using my MFT3.  For various reasons, most of them probably bad ideas.  But everyone's work style varies/improves over time, so don't beat me up on the idea.  I've already got another work cart and that isn't MFT height either.

Anyway, I bought a SYS-MFT (500076) and was hoping to use it stacked on top of other systainers and a sys-cart (mine being an older 492388).  To my dismay I discovered the top of the SYS-MFT ends up being either a couple of inches too short or too tall.  I rearranged my various systainers (including an older Sortainer 9) and couldn't arrive at a matching height to the MFT3.

Is there some combination of systainers that will do this?  Get the top of the SYS-MFT to nearly the same height as the MFT?

And is there any height difference between the older and newer syscart bases?

Something to perhaps take a look at...Check this video just before 2:40 mark: .  Then check out the comments, someone asks about what he is using.

He says he is using 1xSYS 3, 5xSYS 1 but then he says 7xSYS 1 would work, so there is a discrepancy.

We know an MFT working height is 900mm.  A SYS Cart is listed as 157mm in height by Tanos. A SYS 1 is 105mm.  Note that a SYS MFT is same height as a SYS 1

7 SYS 1 + SYS Cart = 892mm, just a little short, basically equivalent to 5/16th if doing that math.

If you take a closer look at the video, he appears to have a piece of wood on top of the SYS MFT, I assume to cover the gap.  You can see it at the 2:40 mark.

As far as other combinations go, a SYS 2 is 1.5x height of a SYS 1, SYS 3 is 2x,  SYS 4 is 3x and SYS 5 is 4x.  So you can just do math and come up with a combination.  I put a spreadsheet together with all the dimensions here: TANOS / Festool Systainer Dimensions - inches and mm

Is the 157mm for the old or new cart?

Is that  the height to the platform or the top edge?

If 157 is the height to the platform then adding a Sys- II gets it within a 1/2 mm back into the 105mm increment of the other systainers. Since a Sys - II is 157.5mm. Cart plus Sys - II = a Sys - IV. A Sys - IV being 315mm.

Nice spread sheet HD.

Hey, thanks for the video plug. I am using the new SYS cart in that video. I don't think there's discrepancy in my comment... SYS 5 + SYS 3 + the SYS MFT is equivalent to 7x SYS 1.

Good catch on the piece of wood on top of the SYS MFS (it's 1/2" MDF). As you found in your calculation, something like that is required to bring the SYS MFT to exact MFT height. I consider this a good thing because otherwise if you were to make a cut with your TS over the SYS MFT, you'd cut into it! [scared]

Finally, keep in mind the effective height of the SYS Cart is a little less than the advertised 157mm overall height because when you put a systainer in there it drops a few mm into the cutout tray area.

That's for the details on the 1/2" MDF and clarifications.    I must have been mixing up numbers when I was doing math, your comment in the video was correct as stated.

Great idea as well.

I should also point out that the older black carts are about 1/2" lower than the new grey ones.
