I am contemplating opening my sys rock up to see if maybe I might be able to install an antenna socket. IMO thi thing needs a better antenna. Let me know your thoughts or if you have already done this.

I had one. Awful piece of junk, IMHO. Terrible sound quality, low volume, useless antenna. Sold it, won't ever regret it. Sell it for whatever you can get for it and buy a decent Kenwood or Sony portable radio if you need FM.
I'd be interested to see how this works.
However, I've got the DAB + version in the UK (Cumbria area) and even in the Lake District I generally find tbe DAB reception to be pretty good. Sometimes in buildings with 3 foot thick stone walls it's better to be on a window sil where reception is better but thats to be expected.
The Bluetooth range is fairly poor but that could just as easy be my phone so if I'm connected via Bluetooth I usually just put my phone in the radio case beside the radio.
Its a nice small unit that doesn't scream MASSIVE RADIO!!!! to the site agents and as such gets under the radar on sites where radios can be banned.
Mind, I'm not one of those eejits that leaves the radio in the other side of the building but cranks it upto max so I can hear it.
Close (ish) and not at an unacceptable level is far less of an issue for site agents and when they zee the size of it theyre far more likely to just leave me to it.
I prefer it to the other (generally far larger) site radios and although some other specialised manufacturers might have made one with better sound (can't say I've noticed its sound being bad but I'm not a Hi-Fi anorak) they don't run on the same batteries as my tools which isn't as good for my situation.

I must not be using mine in the same environment, because I rarely turn it up above 4 or 5 volume (of 20) and can hear it just fine when I'm working in the garage, either with Bluetooth or the radio (the radio being the primary reason I got it).
If I were using it while working with power tools and ear protection, it wouldn't be worth using, since it would have to be so loud that it would be uncomfortable to listen to without hearing protection. If I really need volume outdoors for Bluetooth, I'll pull out one of my old UE Booms.
Speaking of outdoors, I've never really been a huge fan of roofing, painting, and construction crews who bring a radio to a job site and turn it up loud enough for the entire crew to hear it, no matter which side of the house they're on. I certainly don't want to be "that guy", and don't need a radio that's capable of making me that guy. it appears that [member=51145]demographic[/member] is of a similar mindset. (I typed this last night before I left work and never hit 'Post')
I also heard a Sysrock and didn’t like it. I replaced my old chunky Makita FM site radio with the newer DAB version and it’s great. I concur with everyone else though - having a radio blasting out at full bore is just plain inconsiderate. It reminds me of these people who think it’s cool to drive around with their car radio volume set to max, and with all the windows open. Just why?
Scaffolders. First thing they do when they get to a job is place the radio where everyone can hear it and set it loud enough so that everyone can hear it without any reference to the home owner or person in charge. We've learned to accept it because it they didn't do that all anyone would hear otherwise is the constant swearing/cursing. It's the lesser of two evils. Oh and it's always a Makita.....
