sys-roll alternatives

Hi everyone. I've been loading systainers in and out daily and currently work out of my pickup truck. I do have a trailer that I work out of on the side. Im getting tired of breaking down my stacks in my truck and carrying them in and out. I like the idea of the Sys-roll for my trailer but I don't see that working well in the back of my pickup. I was wondering if anyone has found any collapsible hand trucks to be sufficient for bringing a stack up stairs and across rough terrain at times. I really wish the sys-roll collapsed!

I've got a similar situation. I actually own two sys rolls, they were great with a can but are terrible even with a full size truck. So they mostly live in the shop.

Sys carts see more use and they are great as stand in moving dollies.

I sometimes use a regular hand truck, which actually packs better even though it's much heavier. The upside is having a hand truck on site which is pretty handy for moving appliances and such alone. (Just had to move 150k worth of solid cherry cabs from a kitchen to a basement, no doing that with a sys roll).

There are several decent folding trucks out there, one of my partners has one that is pretty good and has decent size tires. I think the really small ones might be easily overloaded.

Mostly though I still end up carrying most of the boxes in And out as needed.

Thanks for the heads up. So is the sys-roll awkward loading and unloading from the back of a pickup? I have a cap on my truck so that complicates everything. Lol

When I'm not using my Sys-Roll, I often use a Harper hand truck with a nylon frame.  It's light and strong enough to get stuff where I need it.  I've even hauled some stout steel vaults on the Harper truck.

Wild card- 

I just meant that it doesn't pack well due to its size. I have a cap too, full size truck with a 3" rise cap. But I dont have the luxury of space to store the sys roll in there with boxes on it. And I'm not going to lift it in loaded.

So the bed gets filled with tools, then the cart just never seems to fit in on top without a struggle. Doesn't fit in the cab either.

I really really want to like them, and love them at a site, but without a van to drag them into while loaded they are more of a burden on me than not.

I too have a truck with a cap and also a trailer.  Ultimately the best use of the Sys-roll is a van situation.  I make smaller substacks and place them on the Sysroll after unloading.

When I redo my trailer setup then I plan on having multiple Sys-Rolls versus homemade Systgports.

Few things about this video don't pertain to me.
-an empty pickup bed never happens, for me
-open bed, I have a cap so I can't be hopping in and out. Too much snow and rain to ever consider going topless. [emoji16]

Typically my bed is full, which is why systainers are great. They go up and utilize upward space. I was really disappointed to find out the sys-roll 100 doesn't fold or collapse. If it did then id be able to find a spot for it. As far as my sidework in my trailer it'll be great for that.

If you're looking at a hand truck, check out the Rock N Roller multicart.  Designed for DJ's and musicians, 8 different configurations. 

A little on the pricey side, but when I bought mine it was able to carry my entire DJ setup with room to spare.  Not sure how many systainers I could have fit on it, lol, I don't have that many of em.  I'll see if I can borrow the cart back from the buddy I sold the DJ setup to, take a few pics of how the systainers would fit on it.

Sounds like the Tanos 'Trapo' trolley. I've never looked at one in detail, but seen them (well, walked past them!) on the Tanos stand at various shows. They look a bit flimsy, but like I said I haven't looked closely.

I made my own with 80/20 type extrusion a bit of ply , 2 x 6" wheels and 3" castors . the base is fixed to the uprights so doesn't fold but the handle slides down to reduce the height from 900mm to 550mm . Been using it for 6 months and takes a lot of abuse . I built it as a ' prototype' but it's been great for my needs so haven't bothered messing with it .
The handle sliding down idea was so that I could put it in a space under a worktop out of the way .

That looks like the one a partner of mine has. Pretty much full size but still fold flat. I might need to look in that direction.

Then again I just had an idea to lose the uprights on the sys roll and make a new folding version out of 80/20.
