SysLite Duo vs STL 450 (for inspection)

Regarding the SysLite Duo and STL 450, both look to be great and I understand their intended purposes. My question question revolves around using the Duo as an inspection light. Would the Duo work as well for surface inspection as the STL 450 if each were tripod mounted? The Duo isn't as practical for hand carry inspection up close, but it is brighter from a distance. Usage would be for, among other things, drywall and painting inspection.

I have both and I use the Duo for general lighting but it does not tilt.  The STL excells as an inspection light, especially with the Festool tripod and STL adjustable arm.  I'm currently using both as I am painting and patching a large kitchen/ding room with a 17' ceiling.

I was hoping the Duo would do double duty and perform well for inspection also. I was leaning towards the Duo but now the STL seems more practice to start out with since it’s advantages are harder to duplicate with another type of light. I think the STL Kit should include the large ST-Bag. It’s another expense.

I would also say, that for inspection, the STL is better suited.
The Duo just makes a lot of diffuse light. Great to be able to pint a wall after sundown or anything like that.
It will let you see difference in wet/dry and coverage while painting.

BUT the STL is just brutal in terms of showing you bumps and defects, because it is very focused.

I do not have the arm/stand/bigbag, since I only purchased the STL on 50% discount when Screwfix was closing on mainland Europe. Otherwise I would have never spent so much on an inspection light.
But having used it for sanding etc, it is a brilliant piece of kit.

We use the STL 450 in our furniture shop every time that we sand out a piece. The raking light that it produces is absolutely priceless for seeing any flaws in the surface your sanding and finishing.

In the attached photo, I am sanding a fourteen foot long walnut top prior to finishing.

Thanks for describing your experiences with these. I'm now leaning more towards the STL because it's results are harder to duplicate with another light. If I don't find a satisfactory area light, I'll consider the Duo later on.
