Hi

Is anyone aware of what the tool is on the photograph in the lid of the systainer tool box with insert. The tool looks like a hammer handle wound round with rope with what looks like cold chisel head ? See picture attached it’s the top right hand tool.

Hi,

I think it is a Japanese hand saw handle for a kataba or ryoba blade.
If I'm not mistaken, there is a kataba blade next to it (the thing between the saw handle and the hammer)

put together it will look something like this:
kataba saw

greetings,
P

Like JJ Wavra said, it appears to be a saw handle.

To be more specific, it appears to be a replaceable blade, Japanese saw. Probably a Kataba type, maybe manufactured by Z-Saw.

Dieter Schmid Fine Tools has examples you can see here.

Japanese Woodworkers amongst others, likely carries the saws in the USA.
