I have seen Eric's video on creating systainer labels and have downloaded the "blanko" pdf from the Festool site. There are 4 fields but I cannot seem to get the 2 graphic fields to accept anything - clicking on them doesn't help (they just flash). I tried using the control, option & shift with the mouse click but no luck. I assume that clicking on a graphic field would allow choosing a graphic file.

I use a Mac OS 10.8.5 and Adobe Reader XI, vers. 11.0.10.

Any suggestions?

Well you're not alone on this front.

I use a MacBook Pro with Mac OS 10.9.5 and Adobe Reader XI, vers. 11.0.10, and I've never been able to place anything in the RH area that's reserved for graphics. I can place text in the LH area and change it as needed, but when I click on the RH area, it just flashes. [eek]

I'm assuming you're talking about this label?

Is this more PC based software that won't run on our Mac's?

Off topic, but not too far off...
Yesterday I restarted our Windows 7 office computer because it was running slow. After it restarted, it demanded that I put in a password and it would not let me do anything until I did. This computer with Windows 7 has NEVER been password enabled! So where did that come from? [scratch chin] [jawdrop] [scratch chin]

Probably an update was installed. You can set password and then cancel it in Control Panel - User Accounts.

Back to topic:
In Windows 7 I can insert text, picture and logo into blanko label.

Thanks...I'll try that.

Its a feature. M$ products are full of them. Kinda like when you boot up and it asks you to press Ctrl-Alt Delete to get to the login screen. Well, is there anything else that I can do at this point?? Why not just give me the login screen?

Ok, I admit it, I'm a linux bigot.  [wink]

Ya, more like a feature in frustration. I certainly don't define feature as something that forces me to do something I don't want to do.

Though it isn't quite as convenient, you can do this with Preview...
Open the PDF in Preview and make any desired changes to your text, then select File > Export, chose PNG in the format drop down list, and save somewhere convenient.
Open the new PNG file in Preview, then get an image into your clipboard and paste it into the PNG.
Viola!

You can actually save a step by pressing the option key after you select the file menu which changes "Duplicate" to "Save As..."
That saves the file as a PNG and opens it, but on my system it hosed the original PDF, not sure why.

Well [member=20971]elfick[/member], that's the second time you nailed me...elfick = 2/cheese = 0

But I will try your Preview suggestion and see how it works.

Well I found a work around that could be better in some ways. I played around with the original file in Photoshop Elements and created a full page (8.5 x 11 in) that contains 8 labels, each containing 4 layers which can be changed as necessary. I ran one copy off on glossy photo paper and it looks pretty nice if I do say so.

Here's a reduced sized sample jpg of what it looks like (the original is a psd file) - I used the same text & graphic at first, just to act as placeholders but the fields(layers) are all editable so that you could produce 8 different labels at once.

What do you think?

PorterCable and Festool are both green?
It should look much better if you change the Festool logo with one from Porter Cable.

I like it, I like it a lot... [thumbs up]

I've been playing with elfick's suggestion above and haven't had any luck.

Of course you can change the type color to whatever you want - I used Festool green because I could  [big grin]

I just realized you said you were on 10.9.5. Is there a reason you haven't upgraded to 10.10 yet?

I think 10.10 is Yosemite, if so, I installed that upon its release. What a mess, crashed every 15 minutes or so, constant Wifi problems, SLOW...so slow it was actually slower than my Windows 7 computer. [eek]

After 2 weeks of frustration I dialed up my Time Machine and reinstalled Mavericks. Good riddance. Interestingly enough, I installed Yosemite on my wife's MacBook Air...not a single issue, nada, works great and it is fast!

If you go to the Apple support website, under Yosemite Wifi Issues, over 1.1 million people have visited and read the threads. And people are still posting, 204 pages long, the latest was 4/25/2015.
