Systainer Locking Latches

Haven't seen these mentioned before, so I thought I'd post a link to them. They're Systainer locking latches, for the old type and the new T-locs.

Certainly not defeatable, but may be useful protecting against quick on the spot five finger discounts.
But what defeats the individual from grabbing the handle and taking the entire systainer?

The classic ones have been around for at least a year.  The T-Loc ones are new(er).

They would allow you to lock a stack together - harder to move, and keep fellow workers and youngsters from playing with your tools.

Then it wouldn't be a quick five finger discount. Rather, a big, maybe heavy to haul ripoff. I'm also guessing maybe wrongly, that multiple cases can be locked together. I suspect that many ripoffs are quick, spur of the moment actions. Locks like these, *may* discourage a few of these thefts.

Are they made by Festool or are they third party?

They are made by Tanos, our sister company that makes Systainer/Sortainers, and they are meant to be a deterrent.

Edit: Lee Valley has them because they are a Tanos dealer. These will be available at some point (hopefully soon) as  Festool accessory in green.

Now if they could come out with gps locator chips or even just blue gel bank robbery packs if someone opened up a locked systainer by force.

What's to stop you from buying and attaching your own locator chips? They are small enough to attach onto the collar of a dog or cat. Which makes them small enough to hide reasonably well in a systainer or even epoxied to a tool itself.
