Shane,

Is there a way you can set the forum to auto-correct "Systainer" to Systainer?  I see the word Systainer quite frequently here, and at first I thought it was just ignorance or a typo, or posters trying to be cute, but now I think it must be happening due to some kind of auto-complete or auto-correct on mobile devices.

Thanks!

Good call. Pretty sure I can make that happen.

OK, the switcheroo is working which means the title of this thread doesn't make sense. But for those wondering it should read  Systainer misspelled as S ustainer (space added between the s and u so that it will show).

It happens A LOT that systainer is misspelled. Not just on this forum but everywhere. Has nothing to do with any auto-correct but simply because it's a difficult word that lots of people have a problem with.

I don't think you should build an auto-correct into this forum. The fact that the name of this topic makes no sense anymore is a prime example.

The 'U' is also right next to the 'Y' on keyboards.

Well Systainer is a lot more likely to get used on the FOG than su stainer (as an actual use of the word). Systainer is frequently misspelled with the 'u' (I see it every week) , which means that for topic only searches it won't show in the results. And waaay too many results show for "systainer" in non-topic only searches.

I am betting this thread is the only one that now has a title that doesn't make sense due to the auto correct of su stainer.

I respectfully disagree in this case. In fact, this is ONLY example I can think of where it probably causes an undesired outcome.

I set up my own auto-correct to learn and use 'systainer'. I have never (since then) posted or used the word 'su stainer' (space added so it will display improperly as intended for this one instance).

You don't have much of an imagination then. Auto-corrects have undesired outcomes milions of times. They are the bane of cell phone use. And the bane of very much every other place where they are used.

Leave the decisions to people. If you think somebody makes a wrong spelling, teach them. Not use a computer behind the scenes because it makes life a micro-bit easier for such trivial things.

I seriously doubt that this one particular and specific auto correct for this particular forum will have millions of undesired, unimagined outcomes that are more detrimental than the positive. When you truly consider the two words involved in relation to the nature of the Festool Owners Group and the use of the word Systainer.
