I went even simpler; aided by the fact that I use a Sys-toolbox on top of my vac.
The SysToolbox has a hollow handle, and I found I could easily fabricate a piece that slides into the end of the open handle, and has a peg that sticks up far enough to keep the hose from falling off. An added advantage is I can park my hose brush on the peg so it is always at hand.
A small zip tie ensures it won't work its way loose. There is a slot in the Sys-toolbox handle so no new holes are required.
You'll see a second hole in the photo; this was pre-existing in the scrap I used for this and unrelated to this application.
If I had it to do over again, I'd make the peg shorter; someday when I'm bored I'll cut it down a bit. But otherwise it works great, and I really like always having the brush handy.
