Whipped this up today.  I got tired of having systainers all over the shop.  I have several more (mainly sanders) that I dont use the cases for, and use the empty systainers to carry other tools to the job site that sit on a sys roll cart.  But I needed something to keep the tools I use in the shop, the sand papers, Dominos etc handy.

Case is just 12mm Baltic birch, with a 6mm BB back - 14 inch full extension Accuride slides and a 1/2" plywood tray with poplar trim to keep the systainers from moving.

You can slide out the tray and open the lid fully.

CHeap, sturdy and only a few hrs work.

Hi. Im looking at installing some slides into my van for my systainers, but im not sure if it works out cheaper to buy festools own pull-out drawers, or too buy the parts separately and make them.

Decent drawer runners seem to be as expensive as the whole festool drawer unit, ~£25.

Can you tell me what runners you used, thanks.

Just be aware that the manual of the SYS-AZ drawers mention:
"Not suitable for installation in motor vehicles!"

In the US, Accuride 14" full extension slides run about $18 a pair. If purchased in quantities over 5 pair, they'll run about $14 a pair. Compare that to the SYS-AZ that runs $45 each or $40 each when purchased in quantities of 5.
Just a quick comparison.

Good morning, I just read the above post and on one of Eric's videos he shows using a pro 100 14" drawer slide that comes 10 pair for around $55.00 and free shipping from of ebay for his sysports.  I have ordered twice from there and they seem to be very good slides at a very good price and shipped very fast.  I hope this may help anyone looking for drawer slides at a good price for sysports.

Well if that's the situation, then this is a no-brainer. Andrew was able to purchase all the slides for the price of just 1 SYS-AZ.

You will want some way to lock the slides in the non-extended position while the van is moving. One might not want a drawer to open and have the contents fly off the shelf.

The Pro 100 slides are great and come in 32mm hole layout. I have built 3 staplers with them in the 14" slides. Have also ordered them in 18" for a pantry cabinet I'm currently working on, which I need 4 of the 10 pair. Now what to do with the other 6 pair...hmmm, well my kitchen just happens to take 18" slides and I happen to have 6 drawers [wink].

Anyway as jwaite550 mentioned, here's the link to them.

It seems slides are alot cheaper in the US than they are in the UK.

Im not very experienced with installing drawers and theres so many options available. Is there anybody on here that could tell me what (UK based) slides would be appropriate for this job on a tight budget.

Thanks.

Basil, check eBay for item number 261469015161. I used these on my MFTC and also on some sysports recently. 4.69 a pair. The quality is surprisingly good.
You want the 350mm in my opinion.

standard kitchen/bedroom kit will do the job, ask a local independent kitchen/bedroom shop or fitters and they might have a bucket full of the things or screwfix and ebay.

some local diy shops might also stock them.

Well, I pay about $9 a pair for Accuride 100 pound rated full extension slides like these by the 10 pair box (wholesale pricing) they retail around $20 here in hardware stores.

There are cheaper brands as low as $3 a set wholesale if you buy Chinese made.  I prefer Accuride or Hettich.
