Are there any functional differences between the Tanos and Festool version?  For example, if I buy a Tanos version, can I later purchase an extra the Festool SYS-AZ drawer unit for it (or vice versa)?

That is a good question, I believe there are no functional differences, just the colors.  However, I've not laid hands on either unit yet to confirm.  As a system product my hunch is that there is no difference.
