Maybe this is news, and maybe it isn't.  I've been out of the country in "sunny SW Asia" for the last 8 months or so.

Regardless, I received a Lee Valley catalog in the mail today and it featured 95%+ of the Systainer line of goods.  The prices are same as else where it seems, but there are a few goodies that I haven't seen before.

Item F on the below link:
http://www.leevalley.com/US/wood/page.aspx?p=64651&cat=1,43326,64664
shows PSA pouches and labels for the Systainers.  This might be a very good solution to some of the label problems we have experienced.

Looks a good idea but how well do they stick to the systainer.  Would they eventually start to come away at the edges like the labels do ?  Not to expensive so probably worth a shot.

I dunno about those either.  But I made some of my own labels using these below.  They're polyester, work with laser printers (and accept a high resolution print), and are big enough that I could make a label the full width of the space on the Systainer.  I removed one this past weekend ('cuz I made a new and improved version) and they were not easy to take off.  The adhesive is nice and gooey and adhered to the Systainer exquisitely.  It required some time with mineral spirits to get off the old adhesive.  They work out to $0.50 each, but I'm really pleased with the results and my rejuvenated Festool cases.

A Sharpie is really ugly.

I understand that it conveys the contents of the container and costs 1/1000th of my method.  But to me, paying $300 to upwards of $700 for a tool, and basically vandalizing its $60-80 custom container, is not my way.

I did that. Right where the label went for 2 of my systainers. The rest I put a single letter on the latch. This way it was short money to replace the latch and I can move it from Sys to Sys as my needs change.

One of these days I will break down an buy some quality labels & what not. For now all loose change is being pooled for the `Festool Fund`. Donations to the fund may be sent to............ [laughing]

I've mentioned this here a few times, and I've now done it on the sales floor.  I have about 7 different colors of latches in stock and made a tower, each systainer anthracite in color, but color coded each systainer by latch to denote what is inside each item.

If you check out www.systainerworld.com and go to the pics and video section up top you can see Craig's video.  Craig shows his van's organization and you can see he's created multiple systainer towers, all marked by latch color.  I think this is a genius way to save time and energy and it's permanent.  We've all come to the realization that not many label solutions like to hang out on a systainer for more than 12 months.  A tower of systainers with blue latches for your plumbing tools isn't sure to rub off or peel off like a label would.

It took me a while to just get over it.  It is just a plastic box to keep things in.

A tiny bit of acetone on a rag will clean that sharpie right off.

I suppose you have never wrote your name on a tool or spray painted it pink.

You guys crap your pants if you saw a bunch of pink spray painted Festool's huh?

They are tools, not trophies.  [big grin]

Yes I would. [scared] Keep your blasphemous remarks to yourself!  [poke]

It's bad enough they get all dirty from the work, but heck, that's what they are for so I don't shy away from that. But defacing them on purpose ..... well, that's pure blasphemy ......  [unsure]

Darcy,

How about a compromise?  I can send you some blank labes and then you can write on them with a sharpie.  [poke]

Spray painting tools an odd color is a good way to identify your tools.
Necessary for a large or crowded job site.

I have no reason to repaint my festool's but, if the time arises I would figure out an easy obvious way of marking them.

Sharpie is the least of the evils that have on my systainers.

Lots of paint, glue all over, couple cigarette burns, several unidentified spots.
