T-Loc Systainer Label Template...For Real

Hello fellow, fine, Festoolians,

Just recently I've come into the ownership of a new collection of T-Loc's for my non-Festool's, and as a result I've had to reformat my labels to T-Loc size. At first I had thought that the process would be fairly simple as I had previously heard that Festool themselves provided the templates. However, due to my inability to accept the inaccuracy of the pre-made template, I had to make my own. Let me know what you guys think and I'll post the file if people are interested. Thanks

For continuity of design, I've discovered that using multiple brands tends to make them look rather tacky when alongside other tools, and besides, it is a Festool systainer [emoji6]

Some examples of real Makita labels I recently did for a customer.
Makita also makes a new type of systainers called Makpack. It's a new version of the Classic Tanos systainer.
The Tanos patent probably went out and that's also the reason why Tanos designed the new T-Loc systainer.
The Makpack also needs a new kind of label.

It is amazing what you guys can do WITHOUT the usual pro-apps like InDesign, Illustrator and PhotoShop. (Graphic designer talking here.) Layout in Excel? Never guessed that could work…

It is a beautiful card, but for me I'd be delighted with just a brief description of what it is that's inside.
A photo is a nice addition but I wonder is it really necessary as I know what my saw looks like, so I'd be very happy with this as it tells me absolutely everything I'll ever need to know about the contents of a Systainer.

This all reminds me that I really must get some nice labels done for my numerous systainers.

At the moment they are a variety of:
- proper current style Festool labels for the recent purchases;
- the old classic style stickers for those tools where I have updated to T-Loc systainers; and
- hand-written labels for numerous non-Festool tools that I have put in systainers. (Incidentally, for these I have bought Tanos systainers and colour-coded the catches (blue for Bosch, yellow for DeWalt, orange for Fein and, still to be added, red for Lamello).

Someone did some labels a while ago that majored on the picture of the tool with less tiny text. I want to do that and just have a simple banner on the bottom showing the brand name (it really isn’t necessary for Festool to put www.festool.com on the label, maybe in 1995 that looked cool).

What is the best way to do this?  Assume I have reasonable basic IT skills, but no desktop design or publishing knowledge.

(I did try playing around with the Festool template, but didn’t get very far)

Here is something I created for my T-Loc Systainer labels. I got some of the PVC plastic ID cards,https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005H5W0YM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1, which slide perfectly into the slots on the Systainer.  I bought Avery Weatherproof labels, (15513).  The label is the correct height for the ID cards, but needs to be trimmed for the correct length.  I created a PDF to create the labels, allowing you to enter your text, an image for the contents and an image for the brand. The text is large enough that I find it easy to read.

Attached you will find an example of a full sheet of labels, ready for printing and trimming.

And also a copy of the blank form, ready to insert your items.

I just downloaded my tool images and cropped them to where they look good in my PDF.  You can change the image over-and-over until you get it right, then send it to the printer.

I use a color laser and so far, my labels have held up nicely.

I see that Festool has a pdf for making labels for systainers....but it looks like you can only print one label at a time. Is that correct? Is there a way to make a whole sheet of labels so I'm not wasting tons of paper?

Maybe this could be useful to some of you. These are the templates I made for myself in LibreOffice (an Open Source variant of MS Office). I like to stay close to the original, but that's just my preference. One is for Festool stuff and the other for non-Festool things. Just edit the text as you see fit and add an image of the tool(s) in the systainer with copy-paste. The text for the location of the website is editable as well. For non-Festool stuff I like to add the logo of the manufacturer where Festool's would be otherwise, but that's just me. If you prefer not to have an image of the tool(s) on the label you can select the text left of it. You'll see a rectangle with small squares on its border (they are called handles). Just drag the small handle at the right and make textbox as wide as you want. In the same manner you can resize a pasted image to make sure it fits the area for it at the right. I haven't tested it (because I don't own MS Office), but I think these templates should work with Word or Google Docs just fine.

Ehm... it seems ODG files are not allowed, so I had to put them in a zip archive.

Take a look at my previous post. The PDF I created prints ten labels to a sheet. Also has the option to add whatever text or images you desire.
