Hi ,

today I have bought my t15 drill and included in the systainer I have found the new led lamp for the drill ! I think they have changed the systainer box, is missing the space in the upper side for bits ... ?!?!
I use Festool to work on sailing/motor boat , I think they are the best and durable tool on the european market !!!!
Sorry for my english , I'm Italian .....

PS Wonderful Site/Group

Andrea, welcome to the FOG. [welcome]

I believe the T series drills are only sold with the new Systainer with "attic" lid in North America. The rest of the world seems to get a Systainer #1, the good news is you are getting the LED light included.

You could use your trigger finger to turn the light on. [cool]

I have been using mine on my drill lately and I like it.  It is bright.

The headband in quite handy too.  I am sure people laugh at me but, I don't care.

i had to purchase the lamp seperatelly and it set me back 25$,  as an attachment on the drill it works quite well, i like the way it fits but the only set back is that it will only work with the centrotec attachment and not with any other ones like the drillbit chuck or the angle attachment.  given that you pay 600 dollars for a drill one would assume you would at least receive the simple features that other brands put on their drills for a 1/4 of the price (like a built it light).

So I understand then that when you press the trigger the light does not turn on, but rather, you have a separate switch for the light? If that's the case it doesn't sound so useful.

We previewed the t15 lamp in Lebanon last fall. It does have its' own switch that you have to turn on and off. It is not drill trigger activated. An integrated light might be nicer but I definitely wouldn't call this light useless. The light is very bright and the battery lasts a long time. I don't recall whether it only works with the Centrotec chuck or will all. You may be right on that point. Another thing to consider with this light is that since it is bright it is possible to lay it inside the cabinet (as an example) and light up the interior very well during work. I have a small Bosch with a light. The focused light right at the screw isn't always the best. Having the option of strapping it to my head and looking like a dork is also a plus.

I have the light and use it a lot both on the drill (with the centrotec) and off the drill for general lighting.  I have not yet used the headband ;)

I have other drills with integral lights and have found them to be less useful than this light - longer battery life, detatachable, more of a 'flood light when drill attached and ability to focus on a larger area for light when on or off the drill.  Just the other day I was doing some plumbing work and used the light to flood the underside of the sink quite well.

But I've also used it in a cabinet for attaching drawer slides with supplemental light, for example.

I actually like this light better than any of the built in lights that are on other drills.

I like not having to trigger the drill to get it to come on.

Was the pannisonic or the hitatchi drill the one with the switchable light?

I really like the leds on the makita li-ion drills, they switch on with a really light touch of the trigger, and they stay on for a few seconds after releasing it.
I wouldn't use a light that much when I have to think of switching it on (and worse off ;)), especially since it needs a seperate battery.
In practice I've noticed that the leds turn out usefull way before you would think, and I wouldn't have used the light if I had to turn it on especially.

I like not having to trigger the drill to get it to come on.

Try the hilti impact, if you depress the trigger lightly it only turns on the LEDS, if you have the reverse switch in the middle position pulling the trigger only activates the LEDS so it acts as a flashlight.  It also has 3 LEDS equally spaced around the drive so there is no shadow like on the Makita...Unfortunatly their drill doesn't have it [mad]

The makita light works very well, I don't really understand why is stays on and slowly dies down...

The festool strap-on light with the switch is so lame it hurts.  Its almost like saying they made the worlds best most advanced most expensive drill but accidently forgot a really basic well loved feature most companies have...So they slap it on afterwards.

i agree with some of you praising the light to an extent, as the light isn't all that bright if you compare it to the 7 led energizer head lamp that you can buy from home depot for 17 bucks which you can also lay inside a cabinet and use to illuminate the entire area.
the whole concept of having a handy led light is for it to be incorporated into the drill so that you don't loose it, have your battery die without a spare etc...
I have a set of the Panasonic drill/driver kit and the light is built into the bottom of the handle that the battery attaches to, it is also turned on by a seperate switch which is awsome because the light illuminates the entire work area since the beam is directed upwards from the battery and you turn it on when you need it and it stays on for nearly a minute without any activity and will stay on as long as you are using the drill.
