Today I picked up the festool t15 cordless drill, I bought the drill in haste as I was in the middle of a kitchen fit when my other drill failed on me so I went straight out and bought the t15. Now when I got on site I noticed that I had 1 3ah battery and 1 2.6ah battery is this normal? I paid £370 for the set, it's not the full set but comes in the sustainer with the centrotec and the keyless chucks. I called the dealer to ask if this was normal but they didn't know so as a gesture he refunded £20 so the set came to £350 which to be honest I was happy with.

Now I have been thinking about getting a festool cordless for a while but wanted the t18, I phoned every festool dealer I could locally and nobody had stock of the t18 and the dealer i bought the t15 were the only company to have them in stock and it was the last one. Now I still really want a t18 so what would be the resale value of the t15?

I'm not sure about the batteries but you have a 30 day trial on the drill.  You don't like it?  Return it for a full refund and order the T18

You should get two the same batteries with any tool you buy. In your case there must have been a mistake at the factory when your T15 was packed, or it happened at your dealer.

If you're happy with what you got now and the 20 pound off, then there's little reason to make a fuzz. The 2.6 ah batteries are great too. But you're entitled to get two 3.0 ah batteries.

I think it's 15 days now.  At least that what it says on the blurb from the tools I bought a few weeks ago.

Supplied with two different capacity batteries - thought you'd bought the complete set, but hadn't.
Don't know who the dealer is, but on the face on it, sounds a bit odd.

Reckon I'd return it.  Research (eg festool.co.uk) so you know precisely what you should be getting - then look for best price on the net.
(You've had a chance to try the t15, so hopefully have some idea if it will do what you want - or go for the T18; some dealers seem to have them in stock.)

Richard.

I don't know how Festool changed out the batteries in the UK, in the US the 2.6 ah batteries are from several years ago.  Two (or maybe three) years ago Festool USA started offering the 3.0 ah batteries with the updated T and C drills.  If you were to get a 2.6 ah battery here in the States it might be unused, but it will be new old stock.  Li Ion batteries deteriorate whether that are being used or sitting on a shelf.  I'd return the drill for another one.

These days the batteries have a serial number that matches that of the drill, but batteries used to be without serial number.

Before that dealers could keep the drills in stock and when someone ordered a separate battery they could just sell one out of a drill set. Likely the dealer Tfb bought from did that too and received a newer 3.0Ah battery from Festool when he ordered a separate battery from Festool to replace the separately sold 2.6Ah.

I've worked at a dealer and before there were serial numbers on the batteries, we did exactly that. But we never sold a kit advertised with 3.0Ah batteries with a 2.6Ah one. The other way around did happen though. Some old-stock battery Carvex units that came with 2.6Ah batteries we ultimately sold with 3.0Ah batteries since we sold the 2.6Ah batteries separately.

Numbering the batteries makes sense though since Festool offers a nice warranty on them that can be too easily abused when the batteries aren't numbered.

better still try pick up a voucher with the fifty pound off they are floating around and are valid until end of may here in the UK that's £50 off an 18volt drill , have you tried mts or slingers for the drill ? , green . oh and i would give back the £20 and have the correct batteries as brice said they may be old stock,
