T18 Batteries and Carvex Cordless Batteries - Compatible?

I'm about to spring for a Festool drill and am thinking about the T18 or the Ti 15 (although I could easily sway to the C series).
I have a trion but also expect to someday (when they are released) purchase a Carvex cordless.

Festool demonstrates switching batteries from a t series drill (t12 I think but it's hard to read) and this seems very handy. The video is on the Festool site at:

http://jigsaws.festoolusa.com/jigsaws/models/carvex/

They switch batteries at about 1:21 in the video.

IF limited to the T12 batteries, I might consider this smaller drill instead of the T18 BUT I think I'd rather have the T18 power - even though I am a home hobbiest. I virtually never use a plug in drill any more and I imagine I can move to 100% cordless with the T18.

So my questions are:
1. Can the carvex use batteries from the t18?
2. Can the carvex use batteries from other drills (and which ones)?
3. Is going the extra voltage and weight of the t18 worth it?
4. Am I likely to be more happy with the impact features of the Ti 15?

Thanks for your input!

1. Yes, the Carvex can use the batteries from our T-series and C-series drills up to and including 18v.
2. As stated above, all C-series and T-series drills. The NiCd, NiMH and LiIon batteries all work.
3. I'll leave this to members to answer since it's opinion based. The weight difference is only a couple of ounces as I recall.
4. Again, I'll let members (especially those in Europe who have the impact) answer this one.

Shane,
Thanks for the great info on battery compatibility.
Now I'll be able to make the decision based on all the other factors.
I'll look forward to the advice from FOG members.  I haven't yet been able to heft or try the T18 drill (my local woodcraft never seems to have the t18 in stock)

I have the t18 and love it.  It is the perfect balance for a 18 v.  It replaced an old yellow drill. If you are trying to decide and can't find one.  Just order online and try for 30 days.  My thought was to get the big drill and if needed the cxs. Not sure I need it but I haven't used it all day yet.  I just know it feels much lighter then it is.  Plus. When the carvex comes out you have the batteries.  I really don't think you could go wrong either way.  My vote is the t18.

Carvex will run of 12 to 18v batt  but festool don't do a 12v one  which is compatible.  Only 14.4 and 18 will fit at the moment.

The 12v NiCd and NiMH batteries should work.

I didnt know that.     Well they dont make a lithium  10.8v (12v)  to fit the carvex then.

Oi! Jmb, you must be working too hard lately. The C12 Li and the T12+3 are 10.8v drills and their lithium batteries fit the Carvex.

DAM IT!   I am not really with it am it!   Removing posts! lol

I needed to do a little research first before I just say stuff! lol    I am dead tired actually!  didnt finish work till 7.30 tonight again had no breaks either I was eating while working getting dust all over my sandwich!

For what it's worth, I thought long and hard about a battery powered Carvex - then decided on the mains power model.

Side note - I've seen the T18 and Carvex advertised in a single bundle in various places on the web (but not here in Oz).

I love my T18 - it's barely heavier than the T15 and in hand ( and for balance ) its sweet !

The C's are nice too, but there's nothing in the top length, so I see the form choice as a personal preference.

The Ti15 looks nice - I'll probably add one to the stable when they're finally available here  ;)
