Morning all, Looking for some thoughts and opinions (i am sure I'm in the right place for that!)

I am in the process of building a router table on the side of my table saw and will be using my Festool 2200. the real question issue is do i box in the under side of the table to control dust better or is there going to be a over heating issue for the router? Also do i need to be concerned with the router being upside down in a box will the motor vents suck in the wood particles and dust shorting the life of the router?

Thanks in advance Dean

The OF2200 has effective dust collection on its own. So I wouldn't enclose the table. You'll also want to get the motor cover (473449) to protect the motor from falling dust. I'm not sure if you can order it separately or not. I comes as part of the CMS router table in Europe.

The Toolfest web site is pretty good for obscure spares - Warren has it down for less than £3 and it is described as 'Blade Housing'. I assume that its the correct part number for the piece shown by Rick.

Yup had fun taking mine apart, only takes a small ingress of shavings to bind up the mechanism.. it's a must really as the venting on the router is clearly designed for upright operation. If I remember rightly this dust cover was added retrospectively, to the of1400 kit also

My 1400 suffered with dust, i couldnt depress the trigger, lost a spring when fixing it so now he button to keep it on is awol.

I think it a waste to put this router in a table. This router is in a class by itself for handheld work. Many other routers are more suited to table operation (especially the PC 7518), due in no small part to the robust and convenient mounting systems that are available.

I tend to agree with Nick - the OF2200 is a beautiful machine. I use my old CMT in my router table.

Yeah the of2200 is great but with jmbs adaptation on the cms it take seconds to take it on and off

get a PC 7518 or 9 and a decent lift (i use woodpeckers).  You can get a decent used 7518 for about $100 on eBay.

A plunge router is the wrong tool for the job and the 2200 is a waste of a great tool.  If dust kills the FT you are out a bunch of $$.
