Hi
I saw a Utube from the Netherlands that showed the CMS w a track saw installed that also had the Saw Stop safety features demonstrated Any ideas when this would come available in the US?

There are currently no plans to bring this to North America, because the ideal American version of it is already from SawStop. The new TKS saw is essentially a way to adapt to SawStop technology for European tradespeople. We’re glad that SawStop's incredible technology will finally become available to more of the world.

Interestingly enough, this entry came directly from a Festool Product List that was dated Oct/Nov 2018:

Auftrags-Nr. Order-Nr.      Produktbezeichnung.                        Product name
575786                              Tischkreissäge TKS 80 EBS USA.        Table saw TKS 80 EBS USA

Misprint, long term plan, or possibly something Festool USA is not allowed to comment on.

Not a misprint, definitely a long term plan, you can rest assured it's in development. And Festool is not going to comment on it.

I think Festool's been aching to get a table saw to the US market, but were afraid of the litigation culture. Now with SawStop under their belt, I'm sure they'll feel a lot more confident to enter the US market.

I'm with Alex on this one...definitely not a misprint...definitely a long term plan...and definitely something Festool is not going to comment on.  [smile]

In Festool's defense their table saw solution of mounting their track saw temporarily to a metal plate to put in a CMS would not fly here unless you are begging to get sued. Triton has a similar product but it is permanently mounted to the plate. There is just too much opportunity for screwups to have the saw part removable from the plate. I expect we will see either a standalone saw or one integrated into a CMS plate.

If you need a table saw then buy one. If you think the table saw module (if that is what it ends of being) will be cheaper (or better) than SawStop Jobsite saw you are mistaken. It might be cheaper in terms of price and look cool, but you'll give up enough in terms of ease of setup, portability and cutting capacity that it will in effect have cost more. Even if it were less the price of the accessories would offset it and then some. I don't think the module will be their solution.

I think it is likely to be similar to the Mafell Erika push-pull saw. Mafell's tools are incrementally more expensive than Festool's so hold onto your wallet. Their table saw will set you back $3700 for the basic kit and this is not a cabinet saw.

I wouldn't overthink it. The product number is just a result of internal processes and sequences. It doesn't mean that it's coming to NA. As to the "Festool wants to get into the table saw business" idea, the truer statement might be "TTS wants to get into the table saw business" ... which is why they bought SawStop.  [wink] As far as we're concerned, we already have a table saw via SawStop.

No need to defend Festool. I've heard about how it works in the USA. A guy could be juggling the table saw standing upside down and still sue the manufacturer when he gets cut.

Thanks for the advice, I thought likewise and bought a Festool CS70 years ago.

Hard to imagine a scenario where Festool's the cheaper option.

Festool's new TKS80 is not a pull saw like the Erica. My CS70 is, but alas, no saw stop tech inside.

Maybe the plan is to modify the CS70 to add SawStop?

I doubt it. They might develop a new saw. They made the TKS80 with SawStop as a standard table saw, I hope they also make one with the pull saw design. Or else I see a Mafell Erika in my future, when my current CS70 craps out. A pull saw is much nicer and safer to work with than a standard table saw.

According to the sales rep, it will be available here in 2020 and is a new machine.
It is still a prototype but sounded like a brushless motor and it is not a pull saw.

Any news on this new Sawstop/Festool saw, since January?  I'm not concerned if it isn't available in the US, as long as its available in Europe. I wanted to get a CS70, but have had too many close calls with fingers to risk it. I sold my Cabinet size Sawstop because of the size, and still feel that the Sawstop job site saw is still too bulky. Plus after playing with it at the dealer for 10 minutes, the fence broke, the red locking mechanism fell apart, with some small metal pieces falling on the floor- So much for quality construction! If that broke in 10 minutes, I don't hold out hope for the long run, better to go with the Festool TKS-80??, although I agree that I would like the pull feature.

If anyone has a rough ETA for Europe, I'd appreciate the news.

I think the reason the new saw might not be a pull type, could because this type would be more difficult to implement the flesh detect?

I’m only guessing here though.

Any news on when it will be available?

Its a VERY small insurance policy. Compare it to just the costs involved with an accident, let alone the damage, and its something anyone would pay "after the fact"

I had one, but need a smaller version, waiting for the Festool

OK, its 8 months later now, and any word on the TKS-80 for Europe introduction?? I am waiting for either a European or US version, and am sure I want the Sawstop version,
