The technical descriptions for the Table Widener (493233) states that it permits a larger bit to be used, but it does not specify what that size that would be.  Can someone provide a value for the largest bit?  I am looking for a way to use a 3 1/4 dia edging bit and hoping the Widener is large enough.

Welcome to the forum.  That is a large bit to use in the 1400 let alone not in a table.  I don't know if you have the guide rail adaptor, but if you do then you can use that as an outrigger handle.  Then you are limited to the size of the standard base.

I have not picked up the edge guide yet, but as you note it only permits the standard bit size to be used.  This is bit is much bigger than I typically use and pushes the limit of the 1400.  It has a guide bearing and I figure I can take small bites to get the job done.  I can add a shop built larger base but need a larger hole in the base to route this edge safely.

The cut out measures 3 5/8.
The narrowest edge around the cut out measures 1 5/16.

Thank you.  My local store gets one in a couple of days from now so it seems worth checking out.
