I feel very much as you do on this point.Peter Halle said:My comment had to do with buying a tool with no intent of keeping it after you're done with your project. I don't operate that way. If I bought the tool and had no experience with it and tried it out and it didn't suit my needs then I would have no problem returning the tool.
You admitted in your initial post that doing so would make you feel kinda guilty. Then you threw in the part about trying to justify the possible action based on how much you have spent and how the prices have gone up.
I have a personal issue - you asked - with a scenario like the above. If you buy a tool and then sell it then there is no issue in my mind. Sorry If I wasn't clear.

Buying with every intention of using any product (including, but not limited to festool) for a short time then returning the product for a refund when you have done the job, feels to me as dishonest.
Yes it is permitted by many companies in the US but it just feels wrong.
And the title "Taking advantage of the 30 day return policy" shows that even the OP may have some of the same feelings.
I get the general feeling that FOG members in particular and Festool owners in general tend to be more generous and honest than the average, maybe I am delusional but I don't think so.
