Just finished up this 36 inch tall vanity for a customer here in town. His wife is 6'3 at least (she is taller than me) and wanted a tall bathroom vanity. They liked it so much they put a deposit on a second one today.

The door panels are MDF core hickory ply the carcass is 3/4 birch. Finished the inside with general finish milk paint and the out side is 6 coats of general finish pre-cat urethane.

I like the hickory and like the design and the height.  Honestly I wish that the grain in the panels were rotated 90 degrees counterclockwise in a more traditional manner.

Like Peter,I do like the design but i'm not a fan of hickory.
I also think that the panels should have the grain going  up/down instead of side to side.
It looks like the panels(on the front) has the same patern but a little off center from one to another and i don't think i like that too much.

Other than that,.......NICE WORK! ;)

Thanks, I rotated the grain horizontal to make it look different. The customer wanted something that looked like it did not come from big box. I did mix up the doors woops had planned on them being reversed side to side. The customer was thrilled and wants another one just like it for there other bath.

Nice work.  I like the look of hickory but don't care too much for working with it.  I do like the drawer in the bottom of the vanity as it looks like it doubles the storage as opposed to just the standard doors.

Thanks, I really do not like how brittle it is, seems like it chips and splits when ever you look at it wrong

I like the contrast between the Hickory and the milk paint.
Was that a request by the client, the milk paint I mean.

Thanks

They did not request it, I started doing that to all my cabinets to help set me apart.  It ads an extra $5 to the materials on a 36" base but seems like customers really like it. Keeps it from being dark under the sink.

Nice!

I could have swore i saw this on youtube, and your shop looks "familiar" are you "Darlington Farm" ? If you are I really enjoy your videos  [smile]

But how does it wear? Because it's so flat, doesn't pick up a lot of dirt and marks etc.

I top coat it with Pre-Cat Urethane. It seems to ware pretty well. Have some test panels that I have beat up and still look good.
