Tanos Dealer Recommendations

Tanos makes some great stuff but I think Sortimo has more figured out when it comes to Van storage systems.

yeah i know, i looked that that closely before deciding to switch to systainers. Allthough the sortimo is awesome its really expensive, over and above systainers! Besides i like how festool has designed their tools around systaieners, including the vacuums!

I would love to see somebody truly carry the full line in the US.

Me too, Seth.

Last November 22nd I ordered a couple of these from Japan Woodworker:

re-uk-sys-toolbox

About a week later I got a call from a very nice lady at Japan Woodworker who told me that things were in a turmoil due to the sale of the business, but that she would see that my order was shipped. That never happened.

On December 22nd I placed the same order with Lee Valley, and I just received notice that it should be here some time next week.

Yes, a U. S. based Tanos dealer would be great.  [smile]

Bob Marino?  Hello   [big grin]

Oh, hi.

I have briefly discussed the possibility with Frank Tetreau (sic) former Festool Regional Mgr, in charge of Tanos here in the USA  a few times in the last few years. If memory serves, I think the quantities had to be huge and with all the different styles as well as color combinations, the amount of cash outlay and warehouse space needed were prohibitive. At least prohibitive enough for me to float that gig.

I've heard from a very reliable source that Woodcraft is on board as the next distributor for the US. They just placed their order which isn't supposed to be on a boat until the end of Jan, and then something about a possible strike at the docks may keep them from coming in for a bit longer, so don't expect to see them until mid to end of February.

Yep, I think tat was mentioned already.

Woodcraft would be a good source for Tanos.

Thanks Bob,  You are definitely packing Systainers so that even my UPS guy can't dent them.  [big grin]

Japan woodworker had a descent selection but they would be out of stock on the five drawer sortainer everytime I came in.

The pricing was 14% higher IIRC.  I asked and Connie gave me 10 off.  Still organization is priceless.

Will see if Woodcraft can be competitive.

Thanks!

YES, the Woodcraft in Roanoke Va. will have them, I just need to know what you want us to have =ask and ye shall receive [big grin]

I've bought the tool boxes from Lee Valley and they ship in the US. Quick delivery as always.

Stock the dark gray, whatever they call it.  Looks better all beat up.

Systainer 2 w/Attic.  The sortainer with two big drawers, five drawer, that Festool doesn't offer.

I also found the aerosol insert, caulking tube insert and the Fein saw insert with the appropriate sized Systainers to be very helpful.

Stock the Mini IIs and the new Midi's.  And the new carry-all toolbox, size IV, I think.

Anthracite is the name of the dark grey.

Edit:
And the new carry-all toolbox, size IV, I think.
This is now in the 2013 Festool catalog!  Whee!
