TDS-13 (which chamfer dogs?)

Looking at purchasing the TSO TDS-13 Low Profile Dog Stops which includes 4 Chamfer Dogs.  However, before I buy, I'd like to know if the included chamfer dogs are the close fit or standard fit variant (see:https://tsoproducts.com/bench-dogs/tso-dogs/20mm-chamfer-dogs-pair/ )

Anyone know which chamfer dogs the TDS-13 includes?

From TSO's website:

What's In The Box
2 qty. TDS-13 Low Profile Dog Stops
4 qty. Chamfer Dogs
4 qty. M8x1.25 Socket Head Cap Screws
4 qty. M8 Washers
https://tsoproducts.com/clamping-workholding/fences-work-stops/tds-13-low-profile-dog-stops/

The dogs that come with the TDS-13 are TSO part # 61-403 A and they're labeled "Small Dog Kit".

Edit: Actually, strike that. I think I have the above pair in the same box, but they're not from the kit. I'll see what I can find.

Edit 2: Okay, the ones included in the kit measure 19.88 mm. Somewhere on the TSO site is the measurement for which is close fit and which is standard.

Yep, according to the measurement that aligns with standard fit dogs. However, on the page for dogs you linked to, it seems the correct sized ones aren't tapped like the ones I have.

You may want to wait for Hans to get some clarification.

I reached out to customer service at TSO and they confirmed that it comes with the standard fit dogs. I’ve reached back out to them to see if they would be willing to sell me the TDS-13 with an upgrade to the close fit dogs for an additional fee.

It would be really nice to have the versatility of the close fit dogs (which I already use extensively) and to not have to keep track of 4 dogs that are a different size and would only be used for this one specific tool…Assuming there’s not a functional reason that the TDS-13 won’t work with close fit dogs.

I’ll let you know what they say.

[mention]Chainring [/mention] they wrote back that the dogs that come with the TDS-13 are custom to the tool. Any chance you can verify that?

E.g. your ordinary close fit chamfer dogs don’t work with the TDS-13

[member=75878]Josef[/member] I suppose it depends on how you intend to use them, but I don't see the advantage of the tighter fitting dogs? Any fit issue that you might have with the standard fit dogs is going to be (at least somewhat) hidden when there are two dogs connected like that.
I have a TDS-13 set and use them in a bench that is drilled with the Parf-guide system. The holes are quite good-fitting and I can say that I have no problems with the fit of the TDS.

I would use the dogs with the TDS-13 but also independently to align work for tracksaw cutting.  The precision in this instance is desirable.  If I'm paying for the dogs I'd prefer to have the more precise version and to avoid having them get mixed up with my close fit dogs that I already own.

[member=58857]Crazyraceguy[/member] thanks for the input on the alignment and fit, btw.  Didn't mean to ignore that portion of your post.  Out of curiosity, do you have other TSO chamfer dogs to verify that the ones that come with the TDS-13 are the same as these:https://tsoproducts.com/bench-dogs/tso-dogs/20mm-chamfer-dogs-pair/ ?

I'm asking because TSO customer service wrote me today that the dogs that come with the TDS-13 are "specifically made for the TDS-13" which is at odds with the information on the TSO website.

After hearing back from customer service, looks like there is an error on the website.  The dogs that come with the TDS-13 are not the ones they describe in the product description.  They sit flush with the top of the workbench and include a nut that goes into a receiving threaded hole.  Kind of like the bench connecting dogs but shorter.

The TDS are intended to have 2 dogs in them. I would be willing to bet that having 2 tight fitting dogs would make it nearly impossible to remove the thing as an assembly. There again, you may never need to do that, so...
The TDS-10 are far easier to remove, because of the knobs. They stick up, making them easier to grip, at the cost of possible clearance issues, depending on how you use them.

I set mine up the other day as a stop fixture for cutting Domino slots in some mitered frame parts.
In this case the height of the knobs doesn't matter, but if you use them as plane stops or sanding stops, it might. I most-often use them as an adjustable opposition to the Festool clamping elements.
I store them in a pull-out that I cut with the Shaper Origin.

Very cool setup with the custom drawer!  I may have to follow your lead on a dedicated drawer in the cabinet under the 20 mm worktop (parf guide system) for these and other 20 mm clamps / dogs. Currently everything tends to get lost in plastic bins shoved into the space between the top and the cabinet.

Thank you Josef. That's a thing I have embraced in the last few years. There are several drawers, just under the apron, of both of my big benches.
There is a long one that pulls out from either direction, housing some dogs and small Bessey parallel clamps, under the main dog-hole bench.
The cross-cut table has more. One for the dogs I use for track saw cutting. One for the Woodpeckers tack square and one on the other side for my router table supplies. (wrench, inserts, gauge blocks, etc)
There is also the drawer with-in a drawer. I do that with some of my trim routers. The little upper tray holds the wrenches and a few bits.
