I swear Amazon's algorithm has me figured out. Pretty much whatever odd ball hardware I go looking for is available, for ten bucks...

Is it just me?

Yes, all that stuff comes up as $8.99 for me. :-)

JK, I haven't noticed that for myself but now I will look out for it.

I get quite a few fasteners from Amazon too.
Bolts and fender washers mostly, but they are handy for odd things like Neodymium magnets too.

A nation-wide store in Canada by the name of princessauto here sells hardware kits of various sorts (bolts, nuts, springs, etc.). Even its regular prices are affordable (prices much lower when on sale), here is an example:

I bought several different packs during a sale, and they've lasted for years and years.

Amazon has me figured out to but it wasnt hard.  I pretty much order everything on there that I can including hardware.  Around here traffic is awful and the brick and mortar stores never have what I need.  All it does is waste my time looking. The HD's are the worse it typically takes me 3 HD's before I can get everything I need.  Lowes is actually better stocked but farther away.  I recently ordered a dewalt planer on Amazon in the morning and it was at my door around 4 o'clock same day. Amazon is going to take over everything.

Even long before the pandemic, I don't go to any big box store (such as HD, Lowe's, etc.) or woodworking store (e.g., Lee Valley Tools and KMS) before I check online that they do have what I need, and what I need is in stock.

HD is usually better than Lowe's in two aspects: price and online info. HD is good because not only can I find out online which location has what I want in stock but also the aisle and bay #. We know that big box stores are poorly staffed, and even if you can find someone, she or he may not know better than you as a customer. Lowe's gives me info. on stock availability and store, but not the physical location in the store.

If the quantity shown online is just 2 or 3, I'll always call the location first as often, the inventory info. is not up-to-date.

lowes site does publish the isle and bin # too and you are correct if it only shows a few in stock chances are you are better off going to a different location.  Most of the time Im going for things like PVC/fittings or electrical supplies, possibly some lumber.  So I might have 20-30 smallish items its not worth trying to look up each item I just go knowing it will most likely take 3 stores to get it all. We had Menards back in Michigan and can honestly say they would put HD and lowes out of business here if they opened a store. They were newer before we left but man they had everything and always had stock not sure if it was just because it was a new store or if they have gone down hill at all.  But I really miss having a Menards here.

Lowe's in the US sounds better organized; we have no aisle # info. shown. But there're call buttons on most aisles so we can ask for help -- you need to be very patient though.

If you have a Tractor Supply nearby, check them out for common bolts, washers, and nuts sold by the pound in various grades and materials. They also have the specialty hardware from Hillman that is way overpriced same as HD or Lowes and the bins are empty half the time anyway.

If you want an alternative to Amazon for hardware online try Bolt Depot.

I am lucky enough to have one of those old style hardware stores where there are row after row of pull-out trays of hardware.  Grade 3, grade 5, grade 8, SS, brass-just a superb collection. I have often times gone there just to hunt and get ideas.  Since everything is loose, it is nice to pick up a bolt and check it against your own bolt to  compare thread spacing, pitch, etc.

For bigger bolts, Tractor Supply (TSC) is a good choice, or in the Midwest USA Rural King has always been where the real farmers go.  But I try to support my little hardware store as much as possible.

I’ve bought Uxcell brand from Amazon several times (just hardware and drill bits) and all of the products have been very good to excellent.  I would not hesitate to order from them again.

I have a hardware store like that near me too. There was another one too, but it was forced to move and was never the same, now defunct. The one that still exists is not as good as it used to be either, but it is very close to my house and I can get nearly anything almost instantly.
If I need it for work, I can stop on the way home and have it for the next day. If I need more than they can provide, Amazon can make that happen, generally for less money.
TSC is fairly close, I check them once in a while too. There is a Rural King about 25 miles away, never been there, but I hear it is pretty good too.

I used to have a retail points card.
You had to log into their web site to see what rewards were available.

Based on how many points you had, they would show a handful of crap items that you didn't want, but had enough points for.    And a bunch of good items that you didn't quite have enough points for.
Save up more points and go back to the web site a couple of months later --- same story  --- bit of crap you have enough points for and a bunch of good items that you don't quite have enough points for.
