I just wanted to thank Bob Marino for his excellent service on my first Festool purchase.  I purchased the TS55, the 1080MFT and the CT22.  I am very pleased.  I have made a few cuts thus far and think the system is just great. The cut is very smooth.

I do have one question for all the saw owners out there though...

While my cuts are very smooth, as the saw is running and I am making the cut, the saw will alternate between running very smooth and then it will have more of a rattling sound to it.  It is kinda hard to explain but the first thing that comes to mind is a bearing noise or something like that??  You can even feel the difference along the cut when it transitions from being unbelievably smooth for a circular saw and then it will be noisy like my old saw and you can feel it a little as you cut.

Is this normal and can others comment on what I might be experiencing?  Thank you.

It's normal. The TS55 has electronic speed control. What you are hearing is the gear noise as the motor adjusts to the feed rate of the saw. It is kind of scary to hear it the first time after purchasing a new saw ::).

Thanks Mike and Rick....I kind of figured it might be normal but just wanted to be sure...It was a little scary to hear that the first time.  I have read a ton about the saw before I purchased it and never came across that butam glad to hear that I can rest easy now....and focus on what I want next!  Thanks again to all.
