I think we've waited LONG ENOUGH. Why are we still being fed 4.2Ah batteries ???

Wouldn't it be nice if Festool HO woke up to the world of the internet and low cost international shipping .. I'd feel sad for the local resellers, but it would take a layer of profit taking out of the equation.

In fact I'd even consider Mafell if they woke up and realised how direct international sales could work for them (shock, horror - yes, I said that!)

 
I think you would not even need the 4.2 A-Hr with the Brushless A10M.

LoL.

My real gripe is that we're landing new high drain tools like the TSC and still getting supplied with 4.2Ah batteries.

Other brands in Oz have had their 5+ batteries for ages now ... it's not a good sign.

Seems we have:

1. High prices
2. Low stock levels
3. Old stock .. with (2) it's confusing, but appears so
4. New releases now well behind even NA
5. Heavyweight fixed pricing contracts for the resellers
6. Tooltechnic selling direct to the customer from their website (effectively in competition with their own resellers)

All together this to me says something is not quite right. Yes, a perfect time for another player to enter the premium tools market in APAC !!

Don't get me wrong .. I still like Festool products and am loyal to my local Festool reseller for all the support and advice they've given me. I'd like this all to turn around and come good.

Could it be a result of the way Festool HO is treating our local distributor in relation to price, supply and range? Very bad form if they are .. that'd disappoint me more that local Toottechnic being the problem but could at least explain 1 to 4 above.
 
Where else, far away, are they supposed to sent the 4.2A batteries to??

You could have added that since April and the introduction of fixed pricing, they are yet to provide a 15/30 day return policy. [popcorn]

Has to be disappointing, to put it mildly, to find yourselves in that 'dark' place. 
I wonder about how well Festool forward plans sometimes. 

My two pennyworth is, that should have been more commercially aware of the lie of the land; then ideally
had a partial fire sale of 4.2A kit, whilst ramping up availability of 5.2A batteries. 
Maybe such a sale would be better done in Europe, because of larger customer base. 

And, if anything, whilst doing that, look after you guys by getting the latest gear shipped over. 
Know it's not that simple - but for sure, what seems to going on in Oz, would leave a bad taste in my mouth. 

Not very well put - but sure you get my drift...

According to my reseller "IF" you nominate, they only get a token .. not the normal margin. A poor attempt to placate the resellers as Tooltechnic manoeuvres to eat their bread and butter!!

Makes me feel like setting up a local logistics business ... something like a ZeroLocal or an "upside down Shipito" if you like, for Australian direct business ... get anything from the majority of places on the planet for max of a 3 week wait at an nominal shipping charge.

Thing is, it's going to happen all by itself .. just give it a few more years.

A real innovation would be an insurance company getting into the international warranty business .. covering return airfreight on warranty repairs - a game changer!! I'd pay an extra 1% for that!!
 
It does seem strange that down here, the TSC and the PDC are available six months before the North Americans but we still have no 5.2ah batteries and the TSC could really do with them.

Another thing you can add to your list is no 48hr turnaround on getting tools fixed, not even a weeks turnaround, because Tooltechnic don't seem to hold a large stock of spares so spare parts have to be orderd in from Europe, which means longer waiting times.
I have now been without my TSC for four and half weeks, but apparently it's on it's way back to me. The red carpet has been rolled out!
 
Is the new HKC-55 saw being supplied with 5.2 A batteries?  I just received an email from Festool Australia which contained a promo video featuring this new product.  The 5.2A battery is highlighted in the video but based on comments above I have my doubts. 
It looks like a very promising cordless circular saw for use in the workshop and on site.

The biggest insult to me personally is the set ... the set is the only way you get a well priced track with the saw, but you have to swallow more 4.2Ah batteries with it.

Mean while, over at Festool Aus. They are far too busy to look at Facebook, they still got a lot of old stock 4.2 batteries that have just come in from North Korea to count.

I also noticed on the Festool Aus website that they are still showing the C18 tool in systainer with accessories, with 5.2 batteries, just to rub that salt in a little further.
You gota love em, there arrogance knows no bounds.
 
Interesting comment about Mafell being a viable alternative now.  I'm Tas. based, and have found that Tooltechnic have gutted the retail and repair network locally.  Festool gear was great, as repair, parts and accessory turnaround used to be a week at most, and often less.

The last time I wanted some consumables, it was merely a "months' wait" according to the retailer, which actually became over 3 months!  He didn't even have the courtesy to either contact me on arrival, & when I went in found my parts on the sales shelf along with all the other consumables, luckily still unsold.

The last time I wanted a repair (BS105) I ...couldn't.  The repairer is now either the other end of the state or the other side of Bass Strait!  So I had to order the parts and do it myself.  Too bad if I was in a hurry eh?

With service like that there's really no valid reason to continue with F/tool anymore.  Parts could be ordered from Germany for alternatives like Mafell with less turnaround time than F/tool's current ridiculous system.

Simple as to change the plug out... And 3-6 weeks for Dueschland Post to get it to the local postie bike crew.
