I've been a self employed cabinet maker for 40 years, and six months I amputated 1-1/2 fingers on my left hand. I am right handed, but it slowed me down for awhile. I had already been using some Festool but after my accident I "stepped up my game" and began purchasing more tools to help overcome my new challenge. It's been working very well - Thank You Festool! The ease of cutting sheet goods has been the greatest help so far. As time moves on I hope to share more of my new adventure, and  I welcome any thoughts and ideas anyone may have. I'm new to this forum so please excuse any errors in protocol.

[welcome]

I am sorry to here about your accident. My brother had the same thing happen to him and thankfully it was his left hand as well. He was able to overcome the accident and successfully continue to do trim carpentry. I am just a hobbyist, but because of Festool I can build things by myself in my basement that before Festool would have been problematic.

Enjoy the adventure,

Daniel

Welcome Technowood,

I'm sure you will get an "Official" welcome from one of the Moderators here but I wanted to jump in and say welcome and thanks for sharing.

I do installation work as a Finish Carpenter/General Contractor and Track Saws have definitely changed the way I work.  So much so that I decided to sell my Unisaw with it's huge 52R/24L
Biesemeyer Commercial fence and 48" outfeed setup.  This saw used lots of space in my Garage Shop and I'm thinking of eventually replacing it with a Sawstop and a 36" fence.

I have had some minor accidents from working to long and getting stressed and fatigued.  I still use big Shapers and Table Saws on site and I need to remember that safety really does need to come first.

Keep us posted!

Sam

Hi Technowood!  [welcome] to our group!  I too am sorry to hear about your accident, but your ability to recover, cope, and adjust speaks a lot about your character  [thumbs up].  The fact that it wasn't your dominant hand was a blessing.  You seem to be on your way to discovering the curse adventure, and as you go along please feel free to share or ask questions.  We have tons of people here who love to help and help you spend your money.

All the best, and hope to see you posting again soon.

Peter

[welcome] from down under!

Glad to hear Festool gear is having a positive impact on your work.

I see so much parallel between Festool and Apple. There are so many things that when all put together the product line helps you do your job better. Yes, you have to buy into the ecosystem, yes it is more expensive than their competitors, but there is a lot of engineering that went into the products they sell and they both offer superior customer support.

Cheers

I can wholeheartedly disagree completely with that. If I have a problem that's urgent, or not covered on the website, I can pick up a phone & call Festool. You can't do that with Apple, at least not in my experience here in the UK.

I agree with jonny round boy. I like Apple products and they haven't given me many problems but when I did have an issue they were difficult to contact and I had to work really hard to get them to sort out my problem to my satisfaction (they did eventually). With Festool, I have spent £5k or so over the past year and have had a few very minor issues such as damage to systainer inserts on transit (which probably wasn't their fault anyway) and they were a) incredibly easy to contact and b) bent over backwards to be helpful. They have provided better customer service than I have had from any company.
