Ya, know since I got bit with the Festool bug when the domino came out, I'd say this is one of the two top forums I visit on a regular basis.  I want to pause and say thanks for the wealth of informaiton I've received here and this group helped through numerous buying decisions since and information sharing.  Most of all, it's been a civil relationship.

I've experienced over the past few weeks such discourse on some forums.  One person posted a simple request for a review of a video of a product it was simple and not a lot of details.  People degreaded everything from the persons point of origin to the quessing that individual did not have an education when a simple discussion of the video quality would have suficed.  Here, I've just not seen that type of activity, so to the folks here and the ones that run the forum  THANKS.

Well said!  I agree -- the folks here and the information that is freely shared is top notch and much appreciated.  This is a pretty cool place to hang out and is easily my favorite forum, even for no-Festool stuff.

I'd suggest that the major difference here is that this website is moderated. Anyone running rampant risks censure or dismissal from the website. Few are going to risk that considering the wealth of information that is available here. So, people are civil and actually go out of their way to be helpful.

Finally, the congeniality of the website can be attributed to the moderators themselves who seem to have found a decent balance between moderation and freedom of speech. So to them, I'd like to say thanks for doing such a great job.

Good post Bones!
It really is amazing that the forum stays civil and friendly with the huge diversity of us all - geographic, professional, and tempermental.

Thanks to all the moderators and especially to the posters who think twice before posting something negative.

I also agree.  The moderation balance and civility of the members does make this a great forum.  I also appreciate the participation of Festool and Dealers on this forum which is very active.  You don't see that level of participation on other forums.

I can only speak for myself here, but I guess that my sentiments would be echoed by the others who also operate behind the scenes.

Thank you for the compliments.  This forum is made up of a fabulous bunch of people.  With more than 9,000 members there will be times when moderation will be required, but 99% + of the time this forum self moderates.

We are always here to help and assist.

Thanks again.

Peter

I have participated on other manufacturers forums and quite often any critical discussions lead to moderators deleting posts. This place ia fantastic!!! We get to discuss pros, cons, ideas for improvements, share ideas of modifications, discuss competitive tools. Even better is having some great dealers like Bob and Tom participating here and even some Festool employees like Shane and Christian. Can't forget our great moderators as well! So many other companies could learn from this site - not just tool companies.

I, for one, appreciate the positivity and constructiveness of the members of the FOG.  And a big dose of recognition to the Festool folks that make the FOG possible, provide the training and occasionally needed technical support, and clearly listen the the members' comments.  It all comes together in a really great forum.

I mentioned it already in another post, if you would meet your fellow posters in real life, they could have become friends. Sometimes the temperature would rise to almost boiling point but then the Festool community is able to bring it back to the right proprtions.
I enjoy the knowledge and the experience from most posters, but also the pranks and jokes they pull.
