The Ark Encounter

That was built by Ken Ham.  He also built built the nearby Creationist Museum in Tennessee.  In the creation museum he has exhibits of man interacting with dinosaurs.  He even has an exhibit of a kid riding on a dinosaur's back.  Never mind the fact that Ken Ham says the world is six thousand years old and scientists say the dinosaurs went extinct sixty million years ago.

Ship builders say that a ship that size, built out of wood. would leak so badly that it could never float for long.  How did Noah, with no modern tools and knowing nothing about building ships make one that would float?  How many years would it take him to make a ship that size?  Probably hundreds.

When the ark came to rest on Mt Ararat in Turkey, how did the kangaroo and koala bear get back to Australlia?  And the buffalo back to America?  It had to have taken them years. Plus they left no descendants along the way?  And the last few thousand miles were swimming?

Ken Ham is from Australia.  I am asking Kev and untidy shop to call him home.  Take Rupert Murdoch with him.  We don't need them.

Sorry [member=18386]JonSchuck[/member]  another country 'adopted' them and frankly is welcome to keep them!  Probably a better fit!  [eek] [big grin][smile] LOL

Rupert's mother, Elisabeth; by contrast, was a great Australian Philanthropist.http://oa.anu.edu.au/obituary/murdoch-dame-elisabeth-joy-16239

As for this new Ark, one can admire the craftwork. Very high quality in fact.  But for me that's as far as it goes.

Great Question!  [smile]
But just a gentle hint -  [size=24pt]  Koalas are not bears!  [mad]  [smile]

This thread can easily spiral into a religious nightmare, but I personally look upon these things as fun theme parks .. giving anything they try to portray a shred of credibility is very foolish in my eyes. "Educational" is only applicable if you believe in what it's trying to represent.

Who knows what's going on in the heads of the people that fund and build these things, but one thing is for certain .. being incredibly ignorant of reality or extremely confused about what's actually possible has never stopped people becoming successful or wealthy!

[member=18386]JonSchuck[/member] regarding Ken Ham, sorry we gave him to you - you can't give him back .. that's just rude.

Great job, Weston.  What an amazing opportunity for you guys.  Congratulations.

How do you process 3,500 "pegs" ?  A few at a time! :).

I posted these pictures and topic because of the woodworking and craftsmanship found here, not to begin a discussion on the origins and faith, etc. (not that that wouldn't be interesting![emoji2]). I would prefer it stay focused on that since this is a woodworking forum.
I do find it interesting to observe the intolerance toward this Ark and the owner of it found even in this discussion.  It seems to me that here in America you can probably build what you wish.  I'm not affiliated with the organization that built this, we got this job by bid...

Please focus on the craftsmanship, and construction and how cool it is / would be to work on a project like this.

Any more of a slant towards realism, religion, or whatever social aspects may be involved and the topic will end up getting lost.

I apologize for that.  I tend to talk too much when I drink.  It seemed important at the time.  I will try not to wander down that path again.

Here is the video montage of this project that got put together.  There are some festools if you look closely:)

Thanks for sharing those videos - the sheer scale of what you guys did for the gift shop alone is impressive. I can see it was a LOT of repetitive work, even amongst so many. Also it was great to see the different techniques and finishes you have. (At one stage with the peg walls it looked like you were mass producing home made MFTs.  [tongue])
