Hi all,
The following pics showcase a project that would have been impossible for me to create without my Festools. This is my Festool House and 90 percent of the power tool work was done with Festool tools. The material used is Ribbon African Mahogany. About 3,000 bf of S2S stock make up this work. The stock was straightened and jointed using the TS75 along with all the long grain miter joints. The Domino jointer was used in the majority of the glue ups, mitered casings, and baseboard to casing conections.  The RO150 made all the sanding almost enjoyable. The OF1400 handled the joinery for the entry doors, and rabbet joint on the great room beams. All other column and beam work is mitered. The most important tool used on the job was the TS75. With out it I would not have been able to do this work. An example is the cutting of the 18 foot long miters on the Living room columns. That feat in itself is impossible with any other tool. All the work with the exception of the Entry doors and windows was done on site on 2 jumbo mfts built for the job.

Enjoy

Notice the bookmatched stiles and casing on the Entry doors. The doors are a pair of 2 1/4" x 36" x  91" divided lite with 3/4" dual glaze low E glass.

Come on in. The Entry foyer and closeups.

The beams are about 12" tall and 16 1/2"" wide and the perimeter is about 12' x 12'. Everything is mitered so I assembled on my rolling jumbo mfts and lifted it up as a single unit. I had a couple of helpers there that day.

To the Living room. On the left the columns don't reach the floor where a TV lift cabinet will be built in.

The Kitchen is all masked off right now. Bypass to the great room ceiling. the beamwork is rabbetted with the OF1400 and man was I pleased.

In the guestroom there is a nice trim out of some bay windows and a shot of base and case details. The casing miters are all reinforced with dual 6mm dominoes and the base connects to the casing with 5mm dominoes.

You're entering a HOUSE :o

I have seen parts of this project in some of your other posts. But this is a treat to see the rest. Those ceilings are phenomenal!

Oh man, Eiji. That's spectacular! Gorgeous joinery, beautiful design, lovely proportions. I'm floored.

What's the deal with the door casings? It looks like they're recessed, with a stainless trim. Is that just a trick of the lighting?

You see correctly. All the door jambs, casing and baseboards were installed before drywall.  The casings and baseboards have a laminate strip of stainless steel finish aluminum glued on the backside and extending out. The drywall is installed with a aluminum corner leaving a 7/16" reveal showing the stainless steel strip between the corner and case/base.

I almost forgot about the garage door column and beam.

The beam is a little over 18' long and it is mitered. Take a look at the middle of the beam to see the splice used to make two 12 footers into one 18 footer. Only with the TS75 of 55 can you do this.

The existing garage door will be replaced to match the trim work.

Very nice Eiji. Very nice.  ;)

I see you're using the scorched earth strategy in this contest.  ::)

Beautiful work.  What is the architectural theme of the house (style?).  Could you add a front shot of the house?  You mentioned 3000 bf of lumber.  Is that for all of the woodwork?  Great finishing touch to a beautiful home

Awesome!  I'm sitting here with my mouth open from the impact!

Send Eiji a router!

Thanks Eiji for all the back up info of how things were done.  I've seen pics of this project before and learned something from each post.  Those miters are fantastic!

Awsome work Eiji!!  I've never seen joints that tight in a house.  I love the pool room.

Wow, you're serious about winning this contest!  I've always been impressed with the amazing work you do and this house in no exception.  Tight joints and beautiful wood - great job!

Tom.

Absolutely great!

Great use of space and materials. I like the contrast between the "rough wall" and the clean lines of the woodwork. Nice use of glass on the stairs and on the upper floor. The aluminium accents are great details around the doors and combine beautifully with the glass. It all fits together, colors, materials and space.

Just one question: The "empty spaces" in the floor (Where there are no tiles) What will you put in there?

Eiji,
Beautiful work!!! I think I'll wait till next month to post some contest pics :-X Or do you have more projects for next month too?
Mike
