The LS130 being discontinued, do discontinued models become white elephants?

I just ordered a LS 130.

While the default would be for me to get an assortment of Granat papers, I'm wondering if anyone has tried putting 3M Cubitron II (Xtract) sandpaper on their LS130? I've been very happy with them on my Bosch ROS. They're mesh, so no worries about lining up holes.

The LS 130 shares the same papers as the RS 400 and RTS 400 so no need to load up.

Well, I don't have the RTS, so I'm looking for a starter set.

EDIT: Bought a 220 roll of the 3M Xtract since it was cheap on Amazon. I also got some of the protection layers. I typically obey the 50% grit step-up rule, so my assortment would be something like:

100 / 150 / 220 / 320

Is there much use for the lower, more aggressive grits with this sander?

Also, the pads are typically soft. Has anyone felt a need for a harder pad to not soften things?
