Wondering if it will be worth upgrading (selling old to purchase new) to the new one? do we know what features will be on the unit as it ships to NA, and when that might be?

The new C12/15 will be comparable in specifications to the T12/15, just a different handle configuration essentially. The only real differences are an integrated light, belt clip on the battery and the C12 comes with a 1.3Ah battery instead of the 2.6Ah.

Look for them around mid-2011.

I have been thinking about a C12. I am not interested in the belt clip and I think there is an attachable light system Festool offers that works better if one really needs the light?

My big question holding up my purchase is batteries. I am wondering if I should be considering one of the drills with Li-Ion batteries, assuming the new C12 will not offer them? The biggest advantages I know of for these batteries is shelf life and the ability to handle cold without loosing as much charge.

Since I am transitioning between construction type jobs and cabinet making I am thinking: I will be driving far less screws, working in my heated shop with convenient electricity/chargers, more interested in features/precision, a lighter tool.. which seems to suggest the C12 so far.

The new C 12 will use Li-Ion batteries. It just isn't available yet.

You can still get a new C 12 with the NiCd or NiMH batteries and at a discount because they are on closeout.

I went for the C12 set on closeout. I was unprepared to pay the full price for a drill, but it seemed like fair value on sale. I got the 2.4 battery, and haven't had any problems with it. Remember it comes with two batteries in the set. I also picked up a centrotec bit set recently which suddenly makes the whole festool drill system much much more attractive.
