Before you go out and buy a new Cleantex, just pause a moment. Festool are releasing another vac,

CTL 26 E AC GB 240v

This is a CTL 26 that does not need a bags. It has a variable auto filter cleaning system. Got to be the way to go , no expensive bags to buy ever.

Heard about it at the UK first mini FOG fest

Here's the scans of the relevant pages in the min-brochure (sorry, no PDF version yet):

Although it can be used without a bag, there are bags available for it (these are different to the standard CT26 bags). It's a version of the CT26 made to handle more 'difficult' dusts, such as plaster & concrete dust.

Basically, there's a timer-controlled valve inside that periodically reverses the airflow through the filter, blowing the dust off it. The filter is "made from hard wearing polyester", too. [blink]

There's a few accessories too, including a brand new 36mm hose described as 'conical' [huh] No idea what that really means...

I've just noticed, this brochure only shows a CT26AC version, not a CT36AC, however the first page above shows the new bags in a 36 size. So the CT36AC must be coming at some point later.

Also, these pages show that it comes with a blanking plug for the hose port. I don't think the standard CT26/36 has that (if it does it's not shown on the web page). Presumably that must now be available as a spare, which could be retro-fitted?

Sounds like the impulse feature same as Karcher,Dewalt,Flex.........Not great IMO.Anything other than coarse dust clogs the filter.Ofcourse Festool may well have improved it.

To avoid buying bags I've found this to be absolutely brilliant:
http://www.karcher.com/int/Products/Professional/Vacuums/Wet_and_dry_vacuum_cleaners/11458000.htm?&sdp=ac&pid=69042120&accessoriesGroupName=&pn=Diaphragm+filter+%2F+fabric+filter&title=Diaphragm+filter+%2F+fabric+filter

No silly impulse cleaning just knock off the dust outside and chuck in the washer every 4 or 5 empties. No loss of suction but I wouldn,t use it for  fine dust like MDF or plaster etc.Unfortunately it won't fit the CTL 36...c'mon Festool.

Hope you guys had a good time up north [smile].Was it raining?

That sounds like it is their own vac that they can use with the Planex.

Hmmmmm, that means if that vac comes to NA, the planex should follow. [scratch chin]

Yes, there is also a version specifically for the Planex, replacing the SRM45.

What is the price difference between this and the normal CT?

It's 15.244% more than the CT26. More or less [tongue]

Any idea how many bags that 15.244% will buy you, more or less?  [tongue]

Bob says a pack of 5 bags is $35.50

Don't mean to be a pain but this is how I worked out with my current CT that that the reusable bags weren't worth it.

The cost of the reusable one = something like 39 bags. Which would last me about the rest of my life :D
