It is time. I want to give a HUGE  [thanks] to everyone involved with the recon tools program. This was a major undertaking by the Festool USA staff and as far as I know, a first ever offering of reconditioned tools. Don't know exactly who gets credit at headquarters for this offering but THANK YOU! It was a difficult program to administer as there were several dealers taking orders with no way to check and track available stock as orders or should say requests were placed. There were some long days put in by the dealers (thank you Bob!!). There were some extremely long days and weekends put in by the Festool employees trying to get the products handled and shipped. I think they are working this weekend also. Oh - and there was the tiny little ice storm that hit and messed up things! Then there were those of us chomping at the bit wanting to know if we got lucky with our orders.  [big grin]

I sure hope that Festool management was not dissuaded from offering this again in a year or two. Dispite any criticism or whining, this was an awesome event!

I ordered a 20% off Midi and received it. If someone had dusted it off before shipment, I would have thought it was brand new! Waiting to see if I got lucky on a MFT800 basic when they showed back up - not likely.

Got my planer, and I like it...

Now if only I had the hose that fits (I guess that will be coming next)  :)

Thank you!

THANKS to all of the sales and warehouse staff in Lebanon and THANKS to Sean at tool nut. For a reconditioned 20% off tool I couldn't be happier or frankly even tell if the tool has ever been used. THANKS again to all involved.  [thanks]

I did not take advantage of this event, however I think it is super cool that Festool made this available to us all.  Good job Festool USA and congrats to my fellow FOGgers.

I agree with Chris!  Although I did not purchase anything this time around, I think it's wicked awesome that Festool extended an offer of this magnitude!  I'm sure it helped a lot of people who wanted "that tool" and just couldn't part with full price purchases and this seemed to be overwhelming with interest!

I hope everyone got what they wanted/needed!  Maybe Festool cleared out some space for the new inventory now!

Bob

I've been enjoying working with my new saw - it is in perfect condition.  Thanks Festool folk and Bob Marino for great service.

I don't know, selling tools that are just sitting there to begin with hardly needs our thanks. It us the buyers that should get the thanks. Its either toss these tools out sell them, seems like Festool has been saving up for a couple years on returns etc to do this. They make money on this.

So though its nice to get 20% off, I don't see why all the hoopla just for a sale that is really not a 60% off fire sale. If these were the everyday prices, that might deserve a thank you thread.

This is a business, there are no favors.  :)

Keep up the cheer leading and they may double the price.  ;D

Come-on Nick!! Stop being such a "Debbie Downer"!!!!!!!!! [wink] [laughing]

It wasn't so much about the money saved as it was about the effort by Festool staff to handle this event.

My point it was and is business, effort? We all work.  :)

Gota say I have to agree with you Nick 20% woopi do.... its not like their new.but festool should be congatulated for managing to sell customer returns for retail -20% [thumbs up]

UPS just delivered my C12 set, which between the already reduced price due to the upcoming Li-On sets and the 20% off, came in at under $300.  Considering that the FastFix chucks alone are nearly that much, I'd say it was a great deal.

The only "wear" I can find is a few scuffs on the bottom of the battery from setting it on a surface that wasn't surgical-suite clean, and a small section of the plastic insert in the Systainer that broke off- nothing a dab of superglue won't re-attach, and nothing that I probably wouldn't have scuffed myself after a few days of use.

Thanks to Bob Marino for getting this one in under the wire- the sets vanished off the website within a few hours of the order being placed.

Actually, this is Festool's second reconditioned sale in the US. In Jan 2004 they ran a sale with discounts up to 30% off. I purchased a TDD 12, list price $395, disount price $316 (20% off) and a DS 400 E-Plus, list price $175 on sale for $122.50. At that time, Festool only had two ISA's in Maryland. I was hoping they would continue with this type of promotion, but alas, not until this year. I was wondering if any other members have a Festool catalog dated before 2003-2004?

Skip,

I don't have a catalog, but welcome back to the Forum!  [thumbs up] [thumbs up]

You have been a Festool user for a long time.  And a member for a long time.  I hope to see you posting here more!

Skip, what are you looking for in the old catalog? I have a PDF of the 2005 catalog, nothing older.

The OF1400 arrived yesterday in excellent shape.  It looked as if it was turned on a few times but never used.  The cardboard insert was slightly torn in one part, but other than that it was in perfect shape.  I'll take 20% off for a slightly torn piece of cardboard!!!!

Thanks to Sean and Peter at Toolnut for taking care of me and thanks to Festool for finding a couple of additional OF1400 routers to sell.  Once again, I'm a completely satisfied customer.

Mr. Shane, I'm not looking to order, but trying to determine the first catalog Festool produced in the USA. I have all of their catalogs from 2003 and up until  when they went digital as well as all sales and promotion fliers. I collect a lot of Festool stuff,  including way to many tools but hey, its only money and as I was once told it "It only cost a few pennies more to go first class."

The earliest US Festool print catalog that I've seen is 2000/2001 catalog. I also have a price list from 1998.

No thank you from me.  Placed my order through Tool King and everything was square.  Two weeks later with still no info on shipping I'm informed that my order for the MFT/3 was being cancelled.  Before that I received no replies from either tool king or festool when asked about my order, even though festool site showed stock when past my order date.

I can see where Nick is coming from, in theory.  But while it's true that we all work for our money, don't we all appreciate getting a compliment for that work?  Nothing wrong with giving one where it is due.  PeterK has it right that a lot of people put in a lot of nights and weekends to take care of us. I know that first-hand because I was bugging them all hours of the day and night to confirm that my order was placed, what the status was, etc etc.  I know for a fact that my order received quite a bit of attention from Bob and Shane and I'm sure several other folks at the home office who I do not know. (Maybe Shane can thank them for me....)  Now, there may be some questions about exactly why the event needed to be so labor-intensive for everyone, but I'm sure that will be a live-and-learn experience for the team.  They are obviously the sort of people who pay attention to how things are going, and how their customers are feeling, and adapt accordingly.  But, whatever delay and confusion happened along the way, the fact is that their efforts allowed me to obtain a shop full of excellent tools at a meaningful savings.  Sure, they weren't 60% off, but of the 6 tools that I got at 20% off, only one looks worn enough to make for a convincing reconditioned item, and all 3 of the 10% tools I got look brand new, period.  So, I'd say that makes them a good value at the discounts offered.  And that's reinforced by the intense demand that the promotion generated.  From what I've heard about the ebay market for this stuff, Festool probably could have ended up getting away with much lower discounts, and still sold out.  In which case the discounts offered were something of a gift to customers, really.  And I'll gladly thank someone for a gift.

Jesse and everyone else,

Although I do not work for Festool, I assure you that you comments, both pro and con are being heard.

I personally wasn't in a position to participate in this, but rest assured, I will be next time - if there is a next time.

Peter
