When doing hand-cut joinery nothing beats the physical guide provided to your tool by the scored line made by a wheel-knife marking gauge. But, when you’re working with machinery, the higher visibility of a pencil mark makes set-up easier. Woodpeckers latest OneTIME Tools, the Marking Gauges and Panel Marking Gauges, give you the best of both worlds in one tool. You get both wheel-knife marking and mechanical pencil marking in all four models.

Both marking methods reflect thoughtful design. The wheel-knife registers perfectly at the zero point of the engraved scale. A second knife and four spacers are included, allowing you to lay down two perfectly parallel lines at the same time. Different combinations of spacers and the blades give you every spacing between 1/8" and 1/2" in 1/16" increments. The second blade and any unused spacers fit conveniently in the tail end of the tool.

When you need a more visible line, or one that leaves no trace behind on your final project, rotate the Marking Gauge beam 90° and install the specially designed mechanical pencil. You’ll find it conveniently stored in the tail of the beam (along with the second knife and extra spacers). It threads into the beam, protruding just slightly below.

The specially designed pencil uses standard .9mm lead, which is advanced by the hex-head lead screw. These are the only marking gauges on the market that offer both knife-marking and a perfect fitting mechanical pencil.

Subtle details make these tools a joy to use. For instance, when you turn the beam to use the pencil, there’s a second, laser-engraved scale aligned at the center of the pencil lead, you don’t have to try and read the scale on the other side and adjust for the difference in position. You won’t have to keep track of an Allen wrench for adjustments, either…there’s one built right into the locking knob. Both the Marking Gauge and Panel Marking Gauge have fence lengths that provide solid support as you’re guiding along the edge of your stock (3-1/2" on the Marking Gauge and 6-1/2" on the Panel Marking Gauge).

Both sizes are available in two materials. The beams are available in “Woodpeckers Red” anodized aluminum or stainless steel. You won’t go wrong with either version. Some folks find the white engraving on the red aluminum easier to read in poor lighting. Others prefer the heft and durability of stainless steel.

Both sizes and both material choices are available with inch or metric scales, and the metric models have metric spacers for the wheel-knives. Get just the one you want, or get a set that includes both the 6" Marking Gauge and the 24" Panel Marking Gauge (sets are one material and one scale option only).

Like all OneTIME Tools, the Marking Gauges and Panel Marking Gauges are only made to order, precisely machined and carefully inspected in Woodpeckers Strongsville, Ohio factory (just south of Cleveland).

The deadline to order yours is Monday, October 14, 2019.

Once orders are filled, these tools will be retired from their product line permanently.

Delivery is scheduled for February 2019.

Delivery in Feb. 2019? [eek]

They are probably giving enough time for people to see that it's coming and get in on their 'wish list' for the holidays. Then they need a few weeks to get all those after holiday orders in and processed. And once they know how many to make they get to work.

We are already in October 2019 is what they are referencing.

Probably tpyo - should read Feb 2020.

That marked bar sure reminds me of the one on my 1950 Uni Jet-Lock fence.

How many have been waiting for this and are actually going to order one ?

I've never really needed one of these.

On Woodpeckers website it says 2020.

I have the 2013 one time tool.  Thought I had to have it.  It's sitting in my garage unopened!

Yeah exactly. On premise alone, if it were a must have tool, it wouldn’t only have one production run.
It’s almost like scare tactics to sell tools. Buy this now or never get another chance!

That's a lot of lolly for a couple of marking gauges. When I first looked at the OP graphic I thought it was just one tool with a 24" rod which would make marking tenon shoulders a tad tricky

Thankfully, they appear to have thought of that  [big grin]

While the 24" may be a bit unique, I just can't see the 6" version being any better than current designs for 1/3 the price.

Even something like this is more usable:

Keep in mind that the dealer who posted this is located in Canada and has the price listed in Canadian Dollars. The price would be 25% less in USD. Still expensive though.
