Today I needed 12" accuride touch release drawer slides, so went to 3 different local suppliers. All have to be ordered from Vancouver (3hrs away). First found them online approx $16 US. 1st store finds them in catalogue, pulls out calculator, price $33 per pair.  [eek] 2nd store checks, looks on computer $28pr. [scared] Third store, Home Depot, show the lady in cabinet department slides in book. Makes a call to supplier, $21pr, [smile] I was much happer. So my point, who is screwing who. Would have normally purchased off Lee Valley but they only stock 14" and up!

thx

Is this for some kind of systainer drawer you are building by chance?

If so, I found I needed to go with 14 inch in order that it extended enough for when the drawer was pulled and I wanted to lift the lid without removing the systainer in order to do so.

+1

I used 14" full extension accuride slides for my sysport. I paid about $18 at Reno depot here in Canada. Unsure whether they are all over Canada or just in Quebec.

I hear your pain!

At work we install a lot of Blum hardware into both commercial and residential cabinets. But when it comes to buying the hardware for myself, I'm limited
to a couple different slides from either Lee Valley or Windsor Plywood. Richelieu will sell it to me, but only if i register a business account with them. Id like to be able to buy any of the Blum hardware without having to order it through my work (potentially creating a conflict of interest with them).

HOWEVER down in USA, it seems there are hundreds of suppliers that will sell any of it to anyone. heck, you can buy it all off of Amazon.com.

What the heck Canada?! Why do we get the raw end of the deal????

Nope need them for built in draws in a limited space area, so 12" is max.

The short answer is distribution arrangements, and exclusive agreements by foreign firms that just can't be bothered to do anything different for a market of only 35m people....spread in a narrow band along the US border. Canada is viewed as a 100km by 7000km state.

California alone has a larger population than Canada.

Canadians always expect parity in selection and pricing with what American firms offer, yet are for the most part, blissfully unaware of vast inherent differences in the marketplace...as most of us can drive less than an hour to shop in the USA.

Cheers -

......and pay crazy duty fees on any deal they might seemingly get making the trip not worth it.
