I bought a ts-55, when I needed to rip down 5'x5' shets of 13 ply baltic birch for these speakers (these are not mine either, I don't like my music that loud). Anyway, it was my first attempt at building these, not perfect, but the customer loves them.

Rob, I must say they look great and now you just need to add more and more festools because that customer will refer someone and then..... :D ;) ;D Fred

My "reason for buying Festool" was two fold.

1) Sanding, cutting and routing with great dust collection.

2) To use the guide rail in a way specific to my work, ie being able to draw a pencil line of any angle, place the guide on that line and get a joining quality cut in one pass, exactly on that line. The DIRECT placing of the guide on a line and not needing to calculate an offset is part of it. I am not a measurer, I was trained to draw a picture on the ground and build to the lines and measure as little as humanly possible. Less measuring, less error. And I brought that general framing technique with me to the  shop and employ it as much as I can everyday.

These two things convinced me the Festools would save me time and they have, but it always comes back to great dust collection in the end.

I did not buy the system for one project in mind at the start.

dead simple

i went into a tool shop id never been to before

the stuff had dedicated dust extraction and the tools had features that id never seen before

although i might not like the prices, its the price of doing business here

in the end the customer pays.............................  and the customer benefits

I was using a clamped 2x4 and a craftsman battery powered circular saw, I said enough and knew there had to be something better, and I found Festool at my Woodcraft, and then found this sight. I am hooked now, I just need more funds, but it will happen.
