Hello everyone,

I figured as a new member I would post some background information on our company.

The Tool Place was founded by my parents in 1978.  Over the years we grew from one small 2500 square foot store to today where we have 2 locations that each have more than 15,000 square feet.  We now have 20 employees between our two branches and have always prided ourselves on customer service.  In 2006, my brother Braden and I purchased the company from my parents.  They still help us with advise when needed, but they are also enjoying their retirement!

We recently added Festool to our lineup of products and as we learn more about the products we are in awe of the many quality and features that Festool has.  Beyond that, this community here at FOG is by far one of the best resources in the tool industry.  There certainly isn't a MOG (Makita Owners Group).

Please check us out online at www.thetoolplace.ca

Thanks,

Chad Barclay

Also, for people who may be in the Interior of British Columbia, we are having our annual Wood Show and Sale in our Kelowna Branch this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday (September 24-26 2009).

There will be dozens of factory reps available to answer your questions including Bill Lempe from Festool!

Thanks,

Chad

Chad, I'll have to stop by next time I'm out in BC.  I'm a dealer on the otherside of the country, about 45 minutes north of NYC.  The business is family owned as well (my Father started it back in '94).

One of my passions is downhill mountain biking so I'm out at Whislter maybe once a year or so, wish it was more.  Will definitely have to swing through and stop at your place next time I'm on the sea to sky highway.  Would it be far out of the way?

If you're ever out here on the right coast don't hesitate to stop by or ask for a tour in the big city.

Sean,

Us left coasters don't get out your way too often, but if I do make it to your state I will look you up!  Our two stores are 4 and 5 hours away from Whistler, or from Vancouver BC we are around 3.5 to 4 hours drive.

If you're up this way you may want to ride on Silver Star Mountain..  We have tons of Mountain Biking in BC.

It's great living in the mountains!

All the best,

Chad

Great stuff....is that you?

I'm a DH (downhill) racing guy, used to race for years...

Chad,

The video is really something, I've seen similar but never that level, super cool. Did you help in building the "trails"? It had to have taken years, would it be cliche to ask if there were any FESTOOLs used? Is that trail maintained privately by trail users? Are we looking at thousands of board feet of wood? Anyway, I wish The Tool Place (metric) tons of success.

P.S did you ever hear of MOOTS or Kent Eriksen bicycles? Look 'em up, absolutely outstanding.

I guess I should have clarified that it's not me in that video.  I wish!  I suppose I'm more like "Ken" they mention in the video.  I don't make the time to do all of the great things I used to do all the time and mountain biking is one of them.

Most of the trails like the one in the video are maintain by local riding clubs.  It's clubs like the Mountain Bikers Of The Central Okanagan or the Whistler Off Road Cycling Association that take care of the trails, as well as build and maintain the structures.  I'm not certain if and Festool products were used.  That would sure be a cool promotional photo.  A Kapex being used in the middle of a forest!

Those are some very nice bikes that you mentioned.  I ride a GT Zaskar LE.  I picked the GT as Gary Turner he has been very involved in another hobby of mine; Drag Racing!  He owns a Nostalga Funny Car team called Gary Turner's Pedaler Racing.

Thanks,

Chad
