I saw this is going to be featured on an upcoming episode of a show that I watch, All American Makers.

Thought it might be of interest based on the periodic reports of theft.

It's a GPS/cellular tracking device. One key piece of info that seems to be vague is battery life between charges. They're offering $30 off if you sign up for their emails through the end of the month, which would put it at $100. You'll need a Qi-compatible wireless charger, or you can buy one from them for $30. Ships in December.

No affiliation on mine or The Tool Nut's part. Just a friendly heads up.

I use Tile. It's smaller than iTraq, so you can hide it more discreetly in your systainer.

well, in case your tools are stolen, then they will be probably not hidden in the 100ft range of your phone.

Yup, like Jeff said, Tile uses Bluetooth which is basically line-of-sight. The iTraq uses cellular, so if it can find a cell tower, it's trackable.

Tile uses what’s called a community network. However, its really only useful within a urban or dense populated area, assuming others have the app and are open to helping you find your lost or stolen item.

I think both of these products and others that are similar are still a few year away.
The innovation and technology are there,(for example Find my iPhone app)  but how it can be used and what it can be used with are not there yet.
Ideally, we would all want to be able to hide this very small chip in our Domino XL.

I wonder about the battery life of these products.  So many problems with thieves!  I just had an air compressor, table saw, chop saw and circular saw stolen.  Fortunately, I recorded all the model and serial numbers.  Time spent doing a good tool inventory is time well spent.

there is no any specification about it on their website? looks like its all hiden, buy first then you will know :)

few questions:
what is the battery life?
warranty?
is it working with any cellphone carrier?
any monthly charges?
is it working with all wireless chargers?

[eek]
