There seems to be a compatibility issue with iOS 8.0 devices

I loaded 8.0 a couple of days after it was released on my wife's iPhone 5S and my iPhone 5S and my iPad. I noticed my iPad had to be rebooted often to get Safari running. It ran fine for a couple of hours then would bog down. My guess some cache was filling up. One oddity was that I had to enable the iCloud iDisk service before my calendars would sync.

I didn't load 8.0.1, but did load 8.0.2 on my iPad. After a full day of using it, I have not had to reboot. Whatever was bogging down the iPad seems to have gone away with 8.0.2. One day isn't much of a test, but it is encouraging.
I'm leaving my iPhone and my wife's iPhone on 8.0 until I return from a hunting trip.

Frankly, the iPhone 6 or 6Plus doesn't offer enough extra value to trade up. I'll wait for the 6S next year and hope the image stabilization, ala the 6Plus, will be added. Maybe even a sapphire screen although I've never scratched a screen through a bunch of iPhones.

I am not having any issue with iOS 8.0. and  son has the iphone 6 - so far no bending issues..
