First one is a 1990 PM 66, 5hp 3ph with a 54" fence.

second is a 7.5hp 3ph motor that will be my idler for my RPC.

Almost ready.

Nice find Darcy.  I've put a few miles on a 1990 PM66 that belongs to another contractor I work with regularly.  I was still in high school when that puppy rolled off the line.

I remember the debate going on in the '90's whether it was even necessary to get the 5hp motor on that saw, sort of like overkill was the thought.

Darcy, what are you using that beast of a motor for?  What do you have stock in a cogeneration plant or a ton of solar panels?

I was in middle school! Nice find on the saw. I wish I could get a picture of some of the motors here at work. I've seen spares in the basement about the same size as your new saw.

I would tend to think it is a bit much but, oh well.

First task for it is ripping a bunch of reclaimed Oak barn beams.

Electricity here is pretty cheap.  That 7.5 hp motor will just idle when I need to run my machinery, has a real low amp draw.  They say they cost about 3-4 bucks a day if you leave them on all day long.

I don't know if you have a stream on your property, but I guess we'll find out when you bring home that humongous water wheel.  Create a mill shop.

Nice find. I have a '98 3HP and I love it. Nothing, I mean nothing, bogs that saw down, and I don't even use a rip blade, just a Forrest or Freud combo. The rips are so perfect you don't need a jointer pass to clean them up for edge jointing. I can't imagine what a 5HP would be like!
