Think this will work? Plug-It adapter/retro-fit

JBM, this experiment will most likely not interest you, as you on the other side of the pond. You would not need to do this!

Thought I would try an experiment with this part?

Hi Greg,

maybe a silly question, cause i missed what's going on, but just to be curious, what is it you're trying to do - retrofit and HL planer, or  a Kapex with a plug-It cord ?
is that part your showing available as replacement part in the US ?
Cause in DE, we have it for 19 Euros
http://www.festool.de/produkte/zubehoer-verbrauchsmaterial/seiten/detailansicht.aspx?pid=491144&name=plug-it-ubs-pur-360-plug-it-240-v currently
(the price is a shame to be honest, cause you pay 21 Euros for a complete 4m cable with both plugs)

kind regards, Mike

JMB, you eat too much popcorn.

I believe Greg is showing his powered MFT that is waiting on U.L. approval and the part serves double duty in that you can shove it into one of the holes for use as a bench dog.

This is what I did with the Plug-it socket housing.
I fitted it to the EHL 65 planer and it works very good.
I also tried it with the Deltex DX93 but it was not possible to fit the socket housing in the machine.
So I had to fit that machine with the Plug-it UBS PUR-360.

Looks good.  :)

Yeah, on some of the tools you can not fit it in,  just use a little 3" pigtail.

I am still lost on this one. What are you trying to do?

He's suggesting the making of an extension that connects to the power on plug in the Festool dust collector. All one would need to do was to run the extension over to the most convenient spot and fasten it down there.

You plug your power tool into that extension and you're ready to go!

Well,i hate to admit,but i still don't get it.  ???

Maybe this photos will help. It is an adapter, for now, So I can use other non plug-it tool from my Festool vac/power setup. You could also cut off the tools cord and convert it to a Plug-it tool.

This was just the prototype. I was think of making a mold and then encase the plug-end in silicon so it is more durable. But thats for another weekend. The weather was so nice to day I was in the back yard cutting bushes and cleaning up leaves.

Interesting.  Some time ago I entertained the idea of cutting the length out of a plugit cord so I would end up with a short pigtail.  That way I could run a standard extension cord down the hose -- even sleeve and shrink wrap together -- that terminated near the end of the hose in a standard female end.  Plug the pigtail into the end and into any plugit-equipped Festool.  Non-plugit tools could have their cords shortened to a mere pigtail.  So, all tools would plug into the end of the cord attached to the hose.  Seemed like a good idea.  [scratch chin]
