Thinking of buying the kapex

I'm thinking of buying a kapex for the vinyl trim work I've started to get into, it's very similar to vinyl siding but moulded into crown or other decorative trims. Reasons for buying it so far are weight, accuracy, capacity, dust collection, and the miter finder that comes with it. What I'm wondering is if the speed control will make a big difference, the vinyl chips easily and is very hard to trim with out chipping and ruining the cut, does the control allow it to go faster than a standard saw or just slower. I have used a Bosch 12" but it was stupid heavy and made a mess even witha vac hooked up.

I can tell you that you will not regret buying a kapex...  After you get over the initial sticker shock that is.

As far as the speed control, it all depends on which saw you are comparing to.  It is variable between 1400 and 3400 rpm.

Reducing the chipping on the vinyl will depend heavily on the blade you choose.  I am not an expert, but I think the Aluminum/Plastic Blade should work well.

So I bit the bullet yesterday and picked up the Kapex and a fine tooth blade.
Got it set up and tried it out on some of the vinyl trim and it chipped and shattered like crazy, but when I was at Trim-Tex in chicago last October for their training they said running the saw with the blade in backwards helps, so I flipped it around and it was like a hot knife through butter.
I wasn't overly impressed with the dust collection but I was using my long 36 hose from my planex I think I'll grab a ridgid hose and cut it down and see if that helps.

The long 36mm hose works fine, provided you wait to cut just a bit.

Turn the Kapex on, and hesitate a couple of seconds to let the vac come up to full speed,

before touching the blade to the work.

You'll see a marked difference in dust collection.
